i think ALOT of nurseries in the u.k use kids to look after kids. the turnover of staff is worrying and tt is why these girls got to work in nurseries with no checks. i don't know of many nurseries where the turnover rate is comparable with other occupations.

i am sure there are very good nurseries but i have to say hand on heart i have never been inside ANY that i would send my kid to.

and before anyone says 'we've GOT to both work cos we couldn't survive' meaning we could only have one car and no foreign holidays.

i didn't work until both my kids were at school-my husbands a nurse and his pay his awful-after we paid all our bills we had 700 quid a month for four and that was to include food. it was hard as hell but i raised my kids no-ne else.....

and as for those holiday nurseries....i think holiday clubs are fine most kids after the age of 5 would want to be with other kids and not be sat around a pool,BUT these were babies and they were placed in nurseries ALL DAY so the parents don't even want to spend time with their kids when they can.

all these little kids on leads like puppy's with one adult or teenager with a disinterested face....you see all the blurb..french lessons..ofsted outstanding..specialist menus.. yeah right.

i dont know everyones circumstances for putting their kid in nuserys and i would never normally spout off and be judgemental of anyone but this feels like somethingyou cant speak about....but a child should be brought up by its parents and spend the majority of time with them.if you can't do that then don't have them.

I hated every second of it. Have just recently put my 10 month old girl into a nursery, and it's made me very nervous.

Just hoping the UK nurseries they showed are the very worst, and not a general reflection.

If someone treated my little girl like that I would seriously do something I might (or might not) regret.

Yes, I couldn't believe my eyes. I used to be a child minder and the checks we had to go through were many...and Ofsted and social services really did put on the pressure.

For some reason Ofsted and parents thought that nurseries were the better option but I knew they were wrong.

I agree............it was shocking to watch - I can't understand how that nursery boss could get away with only paying his staff £100 per week!! Those parents pay a shed load of money every month for their poor kids to be treated like that!

It's time that they were properly vetted. Apart from the "dodgy"staff, the costs need to be looked at. My mate has her two wee boys in nursery for one day a week and she pays £72. The place is always packed, so I reckon they are overcharging....

My niece watched it and told me it was shocking, that staff are taken on without a proper check, she has 3 year old girl and was concerned on who to trust at her nursery after watching that programme.

I watched it and I'm so glad I shop at Morrisons! You would have thought with the profits these supermarkets make they would at least have the decency to regard peoples health. It has put me off buying anything from deli counters or ready meals again.
