how to ask a company why they didn't hire me?

I applied to nordstrom many times. I had interviews with them when I was younger. I didnt have much retail experience and was nervous at the interview. This time I did very well, because I already knew what they were going to ask me. I got more retail experience, and I'm a new media make-up artist. I was open to any department.

At the end of the interview, one of the managers said she'll have the human resource call me next week and said I did well with her and the other manager.

Now, i just wanna ask them why they didn't hire me, but don't want to be rude.

How long has it been? Did they send you one of those "thanx but no thanx" letters?

I've been through it, and it sux. People with tons of proof can successfully sue the employer for unfair hiring practices, but most just move on.

Chances are, the job was given to someone else. Someone who "knows" the right people.

Experience helps so much on the job. It is very important.

But contacts help you actually get the job in the first place. Every single person I know who makes more $ than me, got their job cuz they knew somebody. Half of them aren't even in the career of their choice, let alone expertise.

Examples? An animator is an executive accountant. A pre-school teacher is a sales rep for a pharmacuetical firm. The list goes on...

It is extremely frustrating, but that is the way of the world. The same reason "bands that suck" get so much airplay. Contacts.

Why don't you write to Nordstrom HEADQUARTERS and explain the inferior hiring practices? Aim high, you have nothing to lose by going over their head.

    Good luck!

How long ago was that? Sounds to me that the manager was going to offer you a job after the interview. Be patient, do screw things up.

Let's say if you are not hired, they'd would send you a letter to thank you taking the time for the interview but would also give you some meaningless reasons.

Does the reason important to you? The bottom line is; you are not hired.

How do you like this reason, ' we've found a more suitable candidate who is more qualified for the job. '
