Why Are Americans So Anti-Socialist or any considrebly left party??

America is to big and diverse for socialism to work. Also Americans tend to be a bit right wing and religiously fundamental.

Americans have seen policies such as nationalization of private property in Communist countries. In the Soviet Union, for example, many were dispossessed of their farms to create collective farms. Americans don't like anything that threatens private property.

Regarding corruption and tyranny, that has happened also where there were governments that are not socialist or communist.

Because it is bad for society. It has been a proven failure time after time in Europe and Asia. Why cant we learn from history.

Capitalism is what made America strong and what is needed to continue our prosperity.

EDIT: If things are so great in Cuba, why do people risk their lives and leave their families behind to sneak out? And why for that matter are they forced to stay where they do not want to be? Actually the Democratic party is a near Socialist organization.

With the government (local,state and federal) making up over 52% of jobs, national or "Socialized" healthcare, and 60% (local,state and federal) taxes on income and purchases we are almost there.

I and most other Americans believe in individual freedom, not government dependence, which socialism is. Most of us believe that you must work hard if you want the benefits.

Socialism means that you must give up your guns, depend on the government to provide for you, etc., which is totally contradictory to the United States Constitution.

i know what you mean, i can't understand it either, especially when you consider that such great american presidents as roosevelt was partly left wing, for example his NEW DEAL was a left wing invention and that worked out pretty well. just because something is left wing that doesn't make it communist.

this goverment is already on the verge of socialism it started with fdr and has grown with every democratic president since then

why should i pay for lazy dope heads who dont want to work and just collect a check

or welfare mothers who make a living off of having baby after baby just so they could collect a check every month

i'm not against giving a person a helping hand but i am against the democrats making it easy on people who dont want to work living off my tax dollars

if people want to live off welfare they should be picking up garbage off the side of the road

Because we're not a stupid as the rest of the world thinks we are. We've watched socialism fail around the globe and quite frankly, we have no desire to be like that.
