Time is a concept, one invented. It doesn't exist without someone to observe it, and is not a natural entity so time was not discovered. It's a difficult thing to choose a word for- language is so often inadequate.

Time was created entirely by man. The only actual measure of time we have is defined by the rising/setting of the sun, which in it's turn depends entirely on our perspective on depending on where we are on Earth.

So essentially, time is completely an illusion. It's just because humans compulsively organise things so we can feel in control of our otherwise confusing lives- the same reason we practise religion and the like.
