I work on computers too - and your words ring true! Preventive maintenance is the best remedy to future problems. :)

You left out the fact that you should also take precautions about electro magnetic shock or EMP before you clean your unit! You know, the shock that you pick up while walking across the carpet or getting up from a chair is what is known as EMP and will kill your computer and that you should ground yourself so as not to shock your mother board when cleaning it. Also if you get a can of Air Duster and spray it onto your motherboard or some other part of your computer can also build up a static charge so ground your system and you with a wire to a source of ground like a screw on a light switch in a newer home or a water pipe or facet will do making sure that you don't have plastic plumbing! It must be copper of standard gray pipe! When giving advice, make sure you know all that you should be talking about because you could leave out a detail that is so important and screw up someones world!

Compressed Air and those Static Wipes are fantastic for cleaning the inside of a computer. :)

Of course ALWAYS unplug it first, and push the "ON" button to make sure there is no charge left on the inside, or you may be in for a nasty surprise! :)
