laughing baby?
Does your 5 month old laugh a lot? My son rarely laughs, and only when we tickle him. He almost never spontaneously laughs. Is he just not there yet, or is this a delay.

All babies are different. There is nothing wrong with your kid. I have two nephews and one giggles all the time and the other (who is 7 months old) hardly even smiles. Some babies are just more serious than others.

My daughter is also 5 months and she rarely laughs to, only if i tickle her and she has to be in the right mood even then or she will cry. Sh eisn't a sooky baby actully she is the oppisite rarely cries but although she smiles ALL the time she doesn't laugh much either i don't think there is anyhting to worry about they may just have a fickle sense of humour:)

They all have their own personalities, and he is a little young to worry about this being a delay. I would say if he got to be a year old and you weren't seeing any laughing or smiling, you should have him checked out. I've noticed that around six months old, the laughter thing really explodes in babies, but for some it takes longer. And some are more serious than others.

You need to purchase the book, What to Expect The First Year. It gives a month by month very helpful guide on what your child should be doing. And no, you should not be worried that your baby is not laughing at this point.

I think a lot depends on the baby's personality, My son was very social and smiled a ton and my daughter was quite reserved and rarely smiled at other people.

Laughing is a lot more enjoyable. But once in a while there is nothing like a good cry. It is a good way to let it all out when something is getting to you. I guess either way you feel better afterwards
