Can someone please explain the "mystery gift card" thing on ebay?
The seller of the card promises the buyer an amount of 5.00 to 500.00. Who in their right mind would buy one? It's HIGHLY unlikely that the seller is going to put any significant amount money on the card. So why bother?

I haven't heard of it before, but it has SCAM written all over it! What is they wound up with a gift card to a restaurant that is on the opposite side of the country? Or is a single 20 year old guy got a card to baby boutique? If it smells like fish, it probably is! If is sounds like a bad idea, it probably is!

Actually, mystery auctions can be quite lucrative, if the right person is running it.
But I wouldn't trust a gift card - too easy to cheat. I'd rather go with someone that is selling mystery boxes.
It'd essentially a lottery. A lot of different people buy envelopes or chances on a mystery prize. Someone wins big - most lose a little money.
They seem to work (although the losing customers usually generate a lot of negative feedbacks for the seller)
