Any thoughts on this?

"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

President Rossevelt was 100% correct in his statement.

This should be the standard for the right to immigrate

to this country,, If you can't hack this program,,cut a trail and

be gone. You don't belong in this country,,

The same words can apply to those who call themselves

African Americans or Polish Americans or Native Americans.

Your an American First,,,, That stands alone,,, Then if you

wish to add your ethnicity go right ahead,, But never before

    this country's Name.

I am an educated American. I have 2 degrees and work well within the "highly skilled" group of indigenous American people.

However if I were to go to another country I have no idea how to do it. I've not ever been to Canada, Europe, or anywhere else besides the border towns in Mexico.

Now, if I am a highly educated, intelligent, well spoken individual and I don't know the rules of crossing the borders, then how can one (without giving them the information) expect an uneducated laborer to know the rules. If they got here, they may not know what the rules are that apply to them until someone tells them so.

I totally agree with President Roosevelt, and I believe that waving the flag of another country in protest to our laws is deplorable, I also agree that people should be given the laws they are to follow. How about a pamphlet in their native language for them to know what we expect, and otherwise, when I cross the border into Mexico, I'd like a pamphlet in English of the laws there that I may mistakenly break with my ignorance of their culture.

I agree, but one cannot know what they have not been told.

One huge problem with Teddy's statement and the current 30+ million illegal alien criminals - "comes here in good faith." How can a person that KNOWINGLY breaks the law when they come here be coming here in "good faith?"

We have immigration laws on the books that are not being enforced that call for the very things you mention. Write your representative and complain.
