Anyone else getting excited about Metallica's new album?
i personally am really curious of what it will be like. They are doing all these interviews saying what the new album is like. i am wondering if is going to be like another master of puppets or another black album, or another St. Anger( which i really hope its not), or will it be something completely new and original? now that they got rid of bob rock and have rick rubin i think it will be a promising album, or at least i hope so.
what are all our thoughts about the new album?
magic city madman---i agree with you 100%, i think this is their last chance to show us they still have it, and i think Rick Rubin will help them do it
NO MORE BOB ROCK!!!!!!! lol

so Satan, I mean Rick Rubin is producing this one? I am curious as well. I havent come close to following them since pre-black album days, and frankly I have become quite disgusted by them because the are a big part of my teen years in the 80's. I do like Rubin, and am very curious to see what influence he may bring to Metallica. The question I wanna know an answer to, though, is are Metallica ready to start kicking metalass like they did in the 80's? If Rubin can help them answer that, then I look forward to it. If they don't wanna lose their rep as being a kickass band who softened up to "evolve" with the times, then I say hell with em.

I am eager to hear the new album too. It will be their first full-length studio album with Robert Trujillo. Rick Rubin will be the producer. The band has returned to the E tuning (which they used for their first five studio albums). More solos, no more snare drum, no more Bob Rock! It is shaping up to be one hell of an album.

I'm curious as well but I have heard a lot of bands say, "we are going back to...." yeah....I'm still waiting for Queensryche to get their heads out of their asses...
I never cared for the Black album too commercial....I am hoping for something that would go between Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets
Like no one knew their were underground.... Been there since the beginning

personally yes. Theyre a band i grew up with hell my son is called james and his mum just thought i liked the name. i think this is their last chance. if they mix it properly and put some lead solos on and make it heavy then they still have the capability to produce the goods. if it sounds like st anger(good songs but **** drum sound and no solos) then theyre dead and buried if it can be like justice(with a better mix) or something between that and the black album then it will be a classic and thats what theyre telling us it is. i only hope they deliver

I've heard someone else say that if Rick Rubin can't get the metal out of them, they've got no metal left.
And I agree completely

Believe it or not the most mainstream metal band today was underground at one time . Kill Em All was a thrash gem until they broke out and sold out. If they can release another good thrash album I'll be first in line at the store the day it's released. They need their hair back!

I am cautiously optimistic about it. If Rubin can't get a good album out of them they are done as far as I am concerned.

I am but I'm really trying hard not to get my hopes up. I'm like you in that if it's another St. Anger, I'll be really disappointed. I miss the old days ;)

yeah, i'm looking forward to it, I still love their old stuff but if it's another St. Anger I'd rather not buy it...it would "stain" my brilliant Metallica collection haha.
I would go to their concerts though, in the hope that they'll play some of their earlier tunes as well.

I agree with everyone else. If the album is pre black I will buy it. If not well then I'll download just to tick em off.
