How come its only in this country?

That a person is disqualified from landing a job based on his/her age? That HR Managers abuse and misuse the term OQ (over-qualified) yet they'd prefer to hire ill-experienced, unqualified greenhorns over people who have the skill set, have the experience but are over the age of 35? What BS is this? Its only in this country that people over the age of 40 can't land a decent job because they're OQ? Stupid system.

What country are you talking about.l sincerely believe that this goes on no matter what country you are living in.

When you get to a certain age,no one seems interested in employing you.

People have the skills and all the experience.............but because of age...........they are overlooked.

    Yes,l agree this is BS.

    l am from Australia.

It is BS, I can only asume you are in Australia because it happens here quite often.

Employers/HR managers often do this because they need to be seen as making the most econmical and cost effective decision. While hiring a young inexperienced person is always going to look better in the figures, when in the long run it always proves more costly. Another reason they do this is because they can always mould someone with no experience to the generally (abit) dodgy and not nessescarily legal practices common within the organisation.

It would make life a lot easier for manyt if they would begin to regulate these suposed discrimination laws which have done nothing but push the discrimination 'underground' and created yet another way to waste peoples time.

Good Luck on the Job Hunt.

Its very true, up until I was 38 I could find A job any where . after that its very hard that's the country that we live in to day .as A project manager I would find myself telling people the same thing . it was a nice way to tell someone that they are to old for the job . the reason I would say it is I didn't think they would last doing work that A monkey could do . in other words if you came from a job that you had alot of responsibility's how could you want to stay here for the long term doing entry level work. or work that is of lesser power. I know it sucks cause we all want to make a living any way we can . unfortunately they don't see it that way . good luck hope you find what your looking for.
