Which arm has pain before a heart attack and why?
I know that one of the symptoms of an impending heart attack is a shooting pain in one arm but I don't remember which arm it is. Also, I have heard that this is due to the direction of blood flow to or from the heart but once again I don't remember why they are related.

Found this on a previous question like yours answered by william k
"it is only your left arm if one of the right arteries has the blockage.
My right arm is the one that hurt just before my heart attack back in '99. The blockage was in my left anterior descending artery (called the artery of death!). Then the pain spread across my chest and down the other arm."
also very few people know your heart is actually in the middle of the chest, which is why the pain can go either way

You can have arm pain, neck pain, belly painand other pain due to there are no pain nerve endings in your heart. So when the heart is having pain it sends the message out to other body parts and it depends on the area of the heart affected not the blood flow. It is a referral from the area of injury.

Hello,
Left shoulder/arm pain are associated w/acute cardiac events. The reason is called "Referred Pain." Do you understand when electricity arcs from one wire to another? Essentially the same thing happens w/referred pain. Some cardiac nerves run very close to left shoulder/arm nerves. There is an electrical current which runs down the outside of a nerve fiber when firing. Sometimes, these currents can "Jump" over to a nearby nerve. For more info, look up saltatory conduction, & mylenated sheathes.
