What is a good RMS Wattage for a 2 channel amp for a "pair" of 12' subs?
I have a Sony Xplode 1000Watt amplifier 2channel and I dont know the RMS but somethings wrong with it....MMk well I want a new amplifier and I dont want to spend alot on a new Amp, but I want something powerful. I have dual 12' MTX Audio Thunder Series subs and want to make it sound good. Is 250 RMS x 2 channel good? Please help me out here, I need a deal, and a working amp.

If those subs are the ones that im thinking of, yeah, that should be fine. they should be rated at about 250-300 rms each. you could always go bigger and have the gain set so that you have headroom too.

in case your subs are SVC 8 ohm or DVC 4 ohm, you could bridge one pair of the amp channels into them and run the audio equipment one after the different from the different 2 channels. to besides the fact that if it is sufficient ability or not, it is as much as you. The bridged output into 4 ohms is 200 watts RMS so each and each sub gets a hundred watts. it could be ok for the 8 ohm variations of Kicker Comps (one hundred fifty watts RMS ability dealing with). Likewise Rockford-Fosgate P1's or JL Audio W1's. in case you bridge the channels to a pair of subs with 4 ohm voice coils, the ensuing impedance is two ohms, too low for the amp to accurately cope with. The amp will maximum possibly draw extreme modern-day, overheat, and in all probability fail.
