If you want a printer with the printhead and tank attached ( a cartridge) look at HP.
Find a printer that takes either the 96 or 74 black and the 97 or 75 color. Decent yields, able to refill yourself or by a shop. As for a particular printer, I can't say one or two. But look at those two cartridge sets and choose from there.

I would recommend an HP 990CXI OR an HP 6127, these two are both Workhorse printers that are extremely versatile and very durable, I've had an HP 990 for 10yrs and a I use an HP 6127 for the office. These both use the HIGH YIELD 78/45 HP cartridges, both of which are easy to DIY refills and or you can buy the set 78/45 for $32 (Refilled)

i use epson cx3700 fitted with a continuous ink supply system. i gained about 75-90% savings in ink costs because of the ciss. however, the head is not connected to the cartridge. HP have those but they aren't as compatible as epson to ciss.
for info on what ciss is:

I always recommend Epson because of their support. For one year they will ship you an advance replacement and pick up the old one. You can also find cheap cartridges at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp
