What kind of police officer would be signed to lead a murder case?

Normal officer, or higher rank?

    Well, I hope not one with experience. It would not be a patrol officer and would be a detective. Both are normal officers, generally. It probably depends on the department and their history. As an outside example, if this were the Army, an officer would be doing it but if the Air Force, a sergeant would most likely be. One is more rank conscious then the other and police forces have their own personality.

    Just a new recruit fresh out of the academy of course. Murder is not as serious as say J walking or shoplifting... they put the seasoned guys onto those cases! DERRRRRRRR!!! A homicide detective maybe a whole team from a homicide division and maybe FBI if there are state lines to cross in the investigation!! Why didn't you just search google??
