Time is very hard to understand although we have now all kinds of things that can measure it, Ahmed Zoweil, the Egyptian scientist, won the Nobel Prize for being able to calculate chemical reactions in the smallest amount of time ever discovered and calculated, the femtosecond. Time is a factor of life, and something that always exists and unaffected by anyone, or any creature on earth. The human being hadn't discovered time until only several thousand years ago, time was not something to worry about, or care about, but people have always known it is there, that factor that causes everything to happen. Imagine time had stopped, nothing is to happen ever in the universe. This means that if time stopped for a second, it will - from scientific view - never start again, because you need to start something to be able to finish it. To understand it try to imagine time as a wheel, and it is ever-rolling, until, of course, it stops, at the end of the universe.

This is all too hard to explain, but trying thinking "if I hadn't done that, how would I do that after it?" This always works to understand that things must take place in order, so Time Traveling will never exist outside humans' imagination.

Time is there. Our brains are developed enough to perceive it. So it is not invented, it is discovered.

However the calendar and watches are inventions to measure time.

By the way in the Egyptian museum the first watch can be seen, it is an ancient Egyptian invention. It is a large alabaster cup with 24 marks inside one above the other. There is a tiny hole in the lower part of the cup. They filled it with water and by looking at the marks one could decide what time it is. There were errors of course due to faster evaporation of the water in the summer.

The measurement of time was invented by people, though you could argue that the passing of time was discovered.

To discover or invent something it must then get into ur mind, but as for time, that's not true. It could be decribed as "anything and everything in the world", cuz with out it nothing makes sense.

what is the meaning of some one getting transported between two places if there was no time elapsed in between (ofcourse we'r not considering the theory of relativity).

Its all word of mouth. For eons, knowledge of food items have been passed down from generation to generation. Studies in chimps have shown that they teach each other about new food sources. All this started long before our species ever evolved to modern humans. According to anthropologists, milk use started soon after the domestication of cattle. I'm sure some dumb s**t was stupid enough to drink out of a cow's udder. After all, they saw a baby cow do it. And we drink from human "udders" as children. Advances in food preparation is the same as advances in science. Every year, a little more is discovered about the foods we eat and how to prepare it. Some food goes out of fashion. Try reading a cookbook written in the the late 1800's or earlier. A lot of the ingredient names aren't even recognizable. Today, food advances are being made in the field of "Molecular Gastronomy". New things are being discovered all the time. I recently heard that someone discovered how to make balloons out of fruit juice.
