You hardly even need that. Most computer service jobs hire and promote based on experience. If you don't know much about computers yet, you should definitely snag a quick associate's degree (2 year degree) or a few classes.
However, you might consider a 4 year school with a dorm. You'll be able to spend more time practicing in a dorm environment by helping other students with their computer problems, and you may be able to find some friends that are computer whizzes that can help you out.
Go to a tech school for your degree. Make sure that your school isn't focusing on "the basics" or "the underlying concepts of computers", but on practical methods. I know some people that went to a 4 year school that are basically unemployable without further study. I also know people that went to schools with less prestige, but because their school focused on practical methods, they have high paying jobs now.
A four-year degree will, on average, give you more opportunities. However, computer work is often so experience based that you can reach the same level as others.

I'm always going to suggest a 4 year, because it gives you a chance to really get to know yourself and at the end you come away with a bachelors and more opportunities. However, if financially its out of the question, then definately go to a 2 year - an associates is immeasurable better than no college at all, and its a wonderful experience.

You can get a job with a degree from a 2 year college, but there's no denying you'll be more qualified from a 4 year college. I think a 4 year college will be worth it because it will give you more options in the future, career-wise and salary-wise. Also, 2 year colleges are becoming more and more commonplace. By going to 4 year, you'll have an unusual advantage.

whether you decide to go to a 2 year or not.. i just want to let you know its not actually a 2 year but a 2 and half if not three year school in reality. By the time you take all the remideals and pointless classes necessary to get you associates.. it really takes longer than 2 years... other than that a "2" year college isnt that bad.
