Lots of answsers above me, but I think the key word here is not the amount of the salary, but your desire for COMFORTABILITY.
Unless you are living in a trailer in some rural area, or with your parents covering the major bills the answer is a definitive NO.
Remember that your salary will be taxed.. so kiss off at least 10% which leaves you $12,000 per year when the national average is about $40 to $50.
Gasoline for a car will soon be at $4 per gallon so it makes a good example.. got a car? If you fill that tank even once a month (which is REALLY an underestimate) you will spend about $50 each time or $600 per year just for trips to the store. Thats 5% of your salary right there.. and we havent even dealt with Rent, or food yet.
Sorry.. that amount is just not going to make it.\\

I Detect some bragging and vanity in some of these Answers. I've been living on 1100 for a couple of years and although not splurging , I have no problem taking care of the basics

I could in a third world country like the Philippines. Here in the US, that amount of money is considered poverty level. One might be able to live in a one room apartment shared with another and as long as medical insurance was picked up by an employer, then you would be OK as far as the basics goes ie: Food, shelter and clothing. But you could not afford very many extras.

It seems that you are coming here to work. That pay packet is comfortably enough for two in modest life type; providing comfortable lodging , food and entertainment as well as transportation. As the pay is indicatively for professional vocation, you would be liable for CPF monthly contribution and annual Income Tax. You can still manage to save a little for short holiday trip. Adjustment is individual and it depends on how you manage your budget.

My guaranteed monthly income is only $150 more than you are offering. We live fine on that. We don't have the newest of everything....my kids don't have all the fancy games and gadgets. What we do have is a close family of 4. The three kids are each at the top of their class scholastically. Money isn't all its cracked up to be.

No. A $200,000 (small one or 2 bedroom house) house payment alone would be double that. You cannot rent anything for less than that. Food is a minimum of $100 per week. Unless you live with your mom.

That wouldn't even be enough to pay rent, let alone food
