Why is it considered cool to drink, smoke and take drugs?

Your correct , the only ones who think it is cool are kids your age. Your path will be successful where as the others who choose this path might have some big issues. My niece has lost 4 friends this year alone from overdoses of prescription drugs , illegal drugs and drinking and driving , your doing the right thing and I'm sure you will look back on these days when you are successful and be very glad you did what you did.

I think you are definitely smarter, and cooler than the folks who smoke,drink, and do drugs.There is nothing cool about any of the three, but I suspect it is supposed to make you look more "grown up" well, the jails, hospitals and cemetery's are full of "cool people" the bad news is that they are also full of the people they take with them, who are also trying to look cool. They do this well. It is very cool on a mortuary slab.

I agree with you. It is cooler to be smart, have wisdom, read books, and be responsible.

If you don't drink, do drugs, or smoke, many people consider you uncool and harass you endlessly because you are of an independent frame of mind and choose not to follow like they do blindly into oblivion.

I was harassed in school for not being what people call "cool."

But whereas they are paying terribly for it now, I am benefiting ten fold because of my choices.

now that i know what you think, i'm throwing my last pack of smokes out and dumping all my liquor down the drain!

really, when was the last time you saw a movie that glorified the use of a library? television and movies portray the use of alcohol and tobacco and drugs as being cool, and the young consumer wants to be cool. period.

just because i've smoked since i was 12, drink in moderation, and have used drugs in the past does not make me unintelligent or irresponsible. they are just choices i make in my life. i have plenty of common sense and i'm quite literate. hell, i even typed this myself! drug addiction (including alcohol and tobacco) does not make people stupid... i'll agree that it could be viewed as lacking common sense, i know smoking is bad for me... but i enjoy it. it makes no sense, but i continue to partake! however i'm a fairly inteligent person who pays his bills and contributes to the community and takes responsibility for his actions.

i'm afraid that it is people like you, who make assumptions about people like me, that make this world a poorer place to exist.

make your own choices and stick to them, i admire your resistance to indulge in substances that are harmfull to you. and just for raising the question, i'll give you a star.

just don't judge others based on their habbits. there are a lot of smokers and drinkers (and drug addicts, despite their weakness) out there that are good people. and remember, there are many mean, inconsiderate, horrible people out there that don't smoke or drink or do drugs.

But most of our society is stupid and immature, so they call smart people nerds, while high drunk smoking idiots get to be called "cool".

Because there are a LOT more really really stupid people in the world than smart ones.

it is considered cool because if you wont do these things people think you are afraid to. and that means you are not cool you are uptight and a scared person. that is why they says this.
