A BROKEN TIMING BELT ON THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE WILL NOT CAUSE POPPING NOISES OR OIL LEAKS.BROKEN T-BELT WILL CAUSE YOUR ENGINE NOT TO START AND IT WILL CRANK FREELY AND FASTER THAN NORMAL.CHECK THE MOTOR OIL LEVEL.IF THE LEVEL IS GOOD,THEN MAYBE THE NOISE YOU HEARD COULD BE THAT YOUR WATER PUMP FAILED AND BROKE YOUR T-BELT,AND YOU COULD BE MISTAKING COOLANT FOR OIL.IF INDEED IT IS OIL,I WOULD CHECK THE DRAIN PLUG TO MAKE SURE IT WAS INSTALLED CORRECTLY.IF THE OIL LEAKED OUT ,THEN THE POPPING NOISE CAME FROM A PISTON ROD THAT CAME LOOSE AND MOST LIKELY PUT A HOLE ON THE SHORT BLOCK.IN SUCH CASE THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED.TRY TO CONTACT ME IF YOU NEED FURTHER INFORMATION.

does the car turn over with the starter? if you crank it and hear a clank, clank, might be a bad sign. if the t-belt broke it might have cause the pistons to hit the valves and break a connecting rod and the "pop" you described might have been the rod breaking out the block or the oil pan. was is a small oil spot or all the oil poured out?
did you ever have the t-belt replaced? if it was replaced you might be able to get the dealer to get you a new engine for free if something was installed incorrectly.
sorry to hear

Does your engine turn over.If it does then its not your timing chain.I have replaced lots of broken timing chains/belts never saw one put a hole so oil leaks out.the clanking sound can be coming from the rod bearings since it is out of oil could be a valve that is bent and the piston is hitting it.Check to see if the oil drain plug is there. If it is the rod bearings then you will need to replace them or find out which one and replace it you can access them through removing the oil pan its a pain but it can be done

are you sure they got your oil plug or oil filter back on tight make sure to check that have never heard of a timing belt breaking causing the oil to drain out of a motor i would sure to check that

naw it shouldnt..i aint never heard of that BS before. if its pourin out check your gaskets and check your plug and make sure it aint rung off. it also COULD have a "gasket" on the drain plug its usually a piece of rubber of plastic to help seal it.
