Jeep Compass: remove radio antenna before car wash?

Question

This is probably a silly question, but I'm no car buff. Should I remove the radio antenna (I have an 07 Jeep Compass) before I take the car through a car wash? I can't unscrew it with my hand (but I may be a weakling) but I don't want to force it out with pliers or something if it's not supposed to come out, y'know? The antenna on my previous car came unscrewed very easily, which is why I even ask this question in the first place. :) Thank you!!

i have seen all kinds of styles of antennas break off in car washes.  a normal style metal antenna can be taken off with a wrench.  if you have the short fat black plastic antenna it will unscrew by hand.  teh antenna base on these is very weak.  i have had to replace a few of these, i've even seen them get broken by the guys in our washbay washing cars by hand.  if i was taking my car through an automatic wash with brushes i would take the antenna off.

Yes it does have an antenna. It's a 1998 Dodge Caravan - with thirty thousand miles on it - bought it new - with my 401 K. I've not drove my van for about ten years - just an anxious passenger 2 or 3 times a year. I'm not out and about to have noticed other vehicles and wonder - what is a jack in the Box antenna ball or car identifiers? Hmm! DeeJay - don't get around much any more.

Providing you don't have a powered antenna, the fixed ones are stainless steel and very durable.  They wont pose any problem in a car wash.  I take my 96 XJ through one every week and have the fixed stock stainless steel one.
