Where did the order in the Universe come from?

If there is no God or intelligence responsible for the laws of nature, then what is responsible for the order? Why isn't the universe in a constant state of chaos? Don't bother with answers like "that's just how it is." etc, etc. That's just another way of saying that you don't have an answer!

Update:

Come on guys! Every scientist in the world believes that there are laws of nature - that the universe is NOT chaotic. What then put it in that ordered state rather than chaos? Give me a reasonable, rational and logical alternative to God.

Update 2:

Saying that there is an intelligence behind the order of the universe is NOT the same as saying "that's just how it is" (Get real!) It is postulating a CAUSE, a REASON why the universe turned out one way rather than another.

And "I don't have an definitive answer," means that the answer is, "I don't know," not "God did it".

I suppose that all the chaos there IS in the universe is Satan's fault.

The world IS in a constant state of chaos . Was is, wasn't a billion years ago , and wont be a billion years from now .

Why to the steams run into orderly rivers ? Because of the natural laws like gravity . These things can all be explained by science if one is not afraiid of knowledge .

What we perceive as order is a consequence of chaos. For example, if you have a computer generate a list of random numbers for an infinite period of time, eventually it will randomly produce patterns like "1, 2, 3, 4..." and "2, 4, 6, 8..."

There's nothing wrong with not having an answer. There is, however, something wrong with using the God of the Gaps to explain that which is not yet understood. Cosmology and physics are not my areas of interest, but I'm quite confident that if you asked this question in one of the science sections, you'd get some good answers.

I personally don't think that there is "order in the Universe", but if there is, it would be completely irrational to assume that it was created by a deity, because then you'd have to ask yourself, if everything is created, who or what created the creator, and you get the infinite regress. To assume otherwise, or to assume that the regress terminates in a deity, is intellectually dishonest. It is not intellectually dishonest to say, "I don't know."

    Second law of thermodynamics.

As there is order on the small scale, there will be more disorder in the large scale. If everything was ordered, everything would be a homogenous mixture constant throughout space. The lumpy bits where things are together, (i.e. planets) is the disorder.

And yes, every scientist believes this is the disorder. Stephen Hawking will bash with his book ... it's written in there.

Oh, and saying "God did it" is your idea of having an answer? You're using backwards logic. The universe is here, and it does have an order, and it did it without a supernatural god. I don't know exactly how things got to be the way they are. I am not an astrophysicist. But I know a wrong answer when I see one, and god is the wrong answer. In fact, it's not an answer at all.

Err...math grew to become into extraordinarily lots designed to make predictions with regard to the Universe. to point that it is unreasonable that it does so is in basic terms stupid. there is not any evidence that any order comes from something different than organic rules. and albeit that is not any longer even all that orderly.

the truth is it is. sorry to say it like that. it is incomprehensible to the human mind, it cannot be understood by intelllect, that is why human beings go on inventing all kinds of beliefs, faiths, stories, because the human mind cannot value an answer like: it just is. but this is the truth.

the human mind always needs long and intellectual rational explanations. but that what created the universe created intellect as well. so how can intellect, which is a creation of the universal life energy, understand universal life energy?

a book can understand every single page in it, but one page cannot understand the whole book.

the answer lies beyond your "intelligent" mind. come to thoughtlessness, and the source of the law itself will reveal yourself to you.

Constant explosions, collisions, solar flares, decomposition...I'd say that the universe is in a state of chaos and getting more chaotic as time goes on.

Gravity is the great organizer of the Universe. It does everything from layer fancy drinks after they've been mixed to causing stars, planets and galaxies to form.

And it does it all without thinking and without a plan.
