Catholics- does this happen during Mass at your Church?

Whenever I go visit my parents "back home in the 'burbs" and am there on a Sunday or "holyday" like Easter...I go to Mass with them, out of respect.

I notice that a lot of people go thru the entire Mass without taking off their coats! Strikes me as funny. As if they can't wait to get out of there or something. It's not as if it's COLD in their or anything.

Yes, I see people do that in my Church. Actually, it is cold...and I usually keep my jacket on all of Mass but remove it before going up to receive.

Another reason people may keep their coats on is for space. When you take it off you need to put in on pew somewhere and then it takes up room and possibly another seat.

Maybe they don't even realize it but they are dressed exactly like the Old Testament Jewish people were when they were to partake of the Passover meal in Egypt right before they escaped. They were to be dressed for the journey--- There is nothing wrong with wearing coats.

So some people don't take their coats off at Mass. . . So what?
