Party themes?

I'm supposed to have a party because I'm turning 18 after two weeks. I don't feel like celebrating but I have to, so if I'm gonna do it, I want to have something original.

Can you suggest me anything, a way to celebrate my 18th b-day?

Update:

I should probably add some details... I live in a small city in Bulgaria and amusement parks and that sort of things are nowhere to be found... It's a pretty boring place for parties and stuff like that... that's why I want something original ;)

Hello A. Nik, Congratulations on turning 18.

It must be tough living in a small town without all the fancy shops and stores that some of the answerers refer to and suggest that you shop at.

I would say have a theme party of your favourite activity. If you are a tennis player like Sunny_babe for example have everyone dress in tennis clothes. This may be limited since you might not have access to all the fashions listed above in other answers.

What about a favourite band theme. Have people wear something like their favourite band or bring something that their band sang about in one of their songs or dress as characters in the bands songs. Like if you had an ABBA theme party

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyGXycNgr3s

people could dress like a Dancing Queen, Napoleon from Waterloo, a mama from mama mia, a banker for money money money, Rasputin for Ra Ra Rasputin, wear a sombrero for White Sombrero, I don't know what to do for Super Trouper but I'm sure someone can get creative with that one.

A same color theme sounds nice. Have everyone dress in your 2nd favourite color while you dress in your first so that you stand out.

Or what about a wacky hat theme. Have everyone wear the funniest or craziest hat that they can find. It might be a sombrero, a baseball cap, a policemans hat, a firemans hat, a captains hat, a safari hat, a Tirolian hat, a matadors cap. I think that most people could easily find a fun hat to wear and it would be easier and cheaper than trying to find or buy clothes.

Well whatever you decide have a Happy Birthday!!

    Hey A.Nik :-)))))

good to see you :-)))18th birthday, lol that's a big thing!!!

Well,as you mentioned,it's not easy to organise an original party after you live in a small Bulgarian city.Nevertheless I saw some pretty good ideas in the answers above. But if you want to have a theme party I suggest that you should use something you're found of as a theme and ask your guests to help you arrange it and dress according to the theme.

P.S. But still if I was turning 18 and I could arrange a party it would be Egyptian pharaoh style :-))))

    Source(s): Cheers from Kavarna ;-)!!!!

    Hey A.nik

Congrats on nearly making it to adulthood!

If you don't want to spend bundles (or get over carried away with organising something that should be a pleasure not a chore!) Why not have a bad taste party?

You can insist that everyone wears the ugliest outfit they can find in their parents wardrobe, or from your local charity shops and insist that everything must clash, fit badly, really not suit you and of course the more accessories the better!

One advantage is that when you wake up the next day with vomit and bits of food down your clothes you can happily chuck 'em in the recycling bin!

Beyond that just remember to get some great music in (and with your tastes, that should be easy) and some tasty but basic food to nosh on (loads of french bread and stuff to stick on it - pizza slices - things on sticks etc.)

Remember it's your party so if friends and family try to take it over and the preparations escalate - tell them to take a hike!

    Have fun lovie!

Well here are a few suggestions:

    1. A single color theme.

    2. A disco theme.

    3. A wicked theme.

    4. Fantasy theme.

    5. Medieval theme.

    6. Since your turning 18, a casino theme.

    7. A Mardi Gras theme.

hi here are a couple really neat and different themes and ideas that go with them:

    1) sapphire party-your tell your guests to wear blue(like a common sapphire) and then you wear yellow (like a more hard to find sapphire) and you can have your guests dress up or just be casual either way its a great way to make all eyes be on you on your night :)

    2) crazy color-this is the theme I am this using for my party go to a party city store and look through all of the fun and bright colors they have for balloons and cups etc. pick a few of them and make the place bright then make your guests look like they just stepped out of an eighties music video with all their bright colors- and if you don’t think they will dress bright make a contest of it by collecting money at the door put it in a jar and give it as a prize to the brightest and most colorfully dressed person at the end of the night

    3) masquerade with your invitations hand out a lil mask (you can also find these at party city) tell them to decorate it at home and make it their own and wear it to your party if they don’t feel like decorating it that fine but you need to buy or decorate the prettiest mask so you stand out

    4) glow in the dark- buy some black lights and tell your guests to wear a lot of white so they glow! and hand out glow sticks, earrings, bracelets, necklaces etc. and have fun with how much white and glow items you wear

    5) black and white affair- this isn't so original your guests wear black and white and you wear a color try silver it really says look at me!

Im sure whatever you decide on

will be a great day. Have fun.

You can do a toga, mascaraed, Luau, or even a sixties theme. There are so many options. It's your Birthday, have fun with it, and make it memorable.
