Satan... model for perseverance?
Is satan a model for perseverance or what? -- not that I rooting for him or anything. I mean, he and God obviously talk to each other (see the book of Job), he knows that he will pay for his rebellion (see Genesis 3:15), and yet, he still continues to tempt and deceive people! That's commitment, right there.

Truth be told, if he didn't think he could win, he wouldn't have started the uprising in the first place. I'll jump into the delusional 'God-believing' pool just for a second for this response.
How could anybody go against something so all-powerful, and all-loving, unless of course, he's lying about being all-powerful and/or all loving. Why did it take Archangel Michael to drive Lucifer to Hell, why couldn't God just will it so?
Most likely, this God creature as illustrated by the Bible is less omnipotent than others may have you believe.

This is where so many people get confused in the "spititual" world. True satan talked to God. He tried to misqoute the Word to God and to Jesus. It didn't fly! But to say he continues to tempt and decieve people is utter nonsese. And just not the Word of God. He has "others" such as his helpers.
Remember that satan was lossed on this earth he DOES NOT know the out come. Why? He was to dumb to read the end of the book. Remember he got kicked out of heaven before it was completed! So yes he continues and his helpers go on like everything is just fine. But we know better.

Sure. A great metaphor for the true individual.

You obviously haven't seen how tenacious my dog is at humping people's legs.

Good example of pragmatism, making the best of what you have, and being your own boss, also. "Better to reign in hell", and so on.

so why then is it so difficult for some, who claim to be followers, to be this devoted to a cause. great observation!
