Why do we get so upset when the writers of Soap Operas insult our intelligence?

We are the ones who continue to tune in every day. We are their fan base. Right now what is being aired was writen by substitutes. We all know this; yet we expect them to write a story line without flaws. I hope the real writers don't have too much to clean up when their stuff starts to air.

I only watch GH, but the "substitute" writers for that show did a better job than the "real" ones. Also, a lot of people are tuning out and have been for quite some time. Soaps have been hemorrhaging viewers for years, but the idiots in charge blame the low ratings on a change in the market rather than a sharp decline in quality. I don't expect a story without flaws; I expect a story that's worth watching in spite of its flaws, and I haven't been getting that.

well it's a fantasy world anything can happen like bringing the dead back 50 million times however I think the substitutes that were used forgot to watch the show cause they are not even close to what should even being showed they probably wanted to change things to suit them too not knowing what the show was about, Haven't watched an episode, or just plain idiot's that wanted it done there way no matter how tortured the fans were for watching and now that the strike is over the main writers are going to let it ride until they play catch up and make more episodes to even out what the substitutes did to the shows at the expense of the fan watching.

Doesn't matter who's doing the writing, storylines get really whacky and we KNOW better, yet we feel a connection to the characters we like best and get offended or insulted when they do stupid stuff. Case in point: bringing Jesse back on AMC - he's been dead for 20 years and now the nim-wit writers think we'll believe that he's been alive all this time. But during this time, Jesse found time to go out and get his ear pierced and a diamond stud put in. Gimme a break! Isn't their expecting us to believe the ridiculous reason he was shot enough?
