Marines - Someone doesn't like us. What should we do?

Profile:

And I quote:

"They should keep that marine scum in jail for a long time. Obviously, he is a typical uneducated marine that doesn't understand the Constitution and what the 1st Amendment means. I doubt any marine has read the Constitution if they can read."

I for one, plan on reporting nearly everything he posts.

Hey, I am a Marine also, currently deployed forward to Iraq for 7 months. There are so many people that hate us. A lot of them I have overheard think that we are the "killers" of the military and that is the only thing we do. Everyone thinks that we LOVE to kill people and are proud of killing someone and that we dont have respect for people. You and I both know that that isnt true. We are an awesome bunch of people that take pride in what we do. I bet that if an army soldier and a marine stood in front of a regular civilian and they asked him who stands out more to you, the marine would be picked because we are "the few and the proud". And when you tell someone that YOU ARE A UNITED STATES MARINE, I bet you get some crazy looks (but good ones) and they ask you how you do it. Don't worry, as long as we all stay tight together, no one else matters. Semper Fi!

Rick seems to be a person who lumps everything he doesn't like into one package. There are currently some very controversial things happening in the world. Whether a person is for the war in Iraq or not should not determine how he feels about the military personnel who are there. I am personally opposed to the war however I am completely supportive of all the military personnel, men and women, who are risking their lives to support the decision of the administration of the U.S. I don't find this to be contradictory.

The president and congress make decisions about war. The military carries out those decisions. The U.S. would be in terrible shape if the military decided to second guess the president and disobey his orders. It is up to the voters to inform the president how they feel.

As far as individual marines, there are some who are scum, the same as there are doctors and politicians who are scum, but the average marine is just trying to do his job the best way he can and get home to his family.

As far as Rick goes, he is highly opinionated. His rhetoric belongs on somebody's blog where he can rant all he wants. I agree that his comments seem to violate the Yahoo anti-ranting policy.

I would just ignore him. It is obvious who the uneducated one is.

Just an annoying little fly whose opinion means less than nothing to me. I really could care less about anyone who criticizes the Corps or the military in general. The posts I usually see are full of lies and misinformation and generalizations. They have no understanding of our core values. Post whatever they want, most people read their comments and rightfully conclude that they are just idiots, then move on and have forgotten about them and their juvenile comments 5 seconds later.

One of these days they'll make the mistake of mouthing off in front of a Marine and will find themselves eating from a straw for a few months right afterwards. Maybe, It's been my experience that punks like this are all mouth from the anonymity of the internet but would NEVER have the guts to spout off to a real Marine etc....

looks like a typical statement by someone that has never served their country. I am in the Army and of course have made the occasional marine joke but that was no joke and way over the line. Very disrespectful to all the military and the people that are fighting for the freedom of ignorant civilians like him.

Interesting, can't really see the relevance to the first ammendment at all, I'm sure plenty of marines would like to beat the hell out of him, but i guess that just proves him right, it would be much better to just stay above it and hold him in absolute icy contempt

No excuse for this guy. Did he read the article, or is he illiterate as well?

Where does he get off saying that Marines don't know what the 1st Amendment is? Who does he think defends it?

Can we strip him of his citizenship or what?

The guy is the typical military hating coward

I would love to see him tell that to me or any other Marine in person

But I suspect when he leaves his keyboard his courage disappears

That person sounds a lot like someone who got his delicate little eggshell ego bruised because he was kicked out of the military & his mommy & daddy couldn't do anything about it.
