Can you tell who has gave you a thumbs down?

This user doesn't know who gave the thumbs down

Either this user assumes the author placed the thumbs down, or is simply making an open, general comment to the whole community.

When then this user certainly was assuming. Trust me there is no way to tell, for example I might say 'thanks for the thumb down" now to as all answers to this question have been given a thumbs down.

There is no achual way to find out who gave the thumbs down as not as much people would do it. The person probably just assumed that the person gave her a thumbs down.

How do you know she was asking the asker?

She may have been asking everyone in general, you can't tell who has given you thumbs down.

No you can't see who has given the thumbs down to your answers.

People's answers may be good answers in relation to the question, but you get Trolls on this site, who just give thumbs down for the fun of it.

It spoils it for genuine Y/A users.

You don't know who gives you 'thumbs down' - it's done anonymously. When the person you mentioned said that, she was referring to the person (whoever) gave her the 'thumbs down'; doesn't mean she knows WHO gave it to her. She's actually 'generalizing' with her statement.

When rating answering of other people or they are rating yours

You have no idea who did thumbs up

or for that matter thumbs down.

Just like if you rated answers

and did thumbs up thumbs down

the other person wouldn't know.

In other words doing thumbs up thumbs down is anonymous.

There is no way to know who thumbs answers. The person you mentioned just assumed that and should not have made that comment as it destroys their chance of helping the author of the question.
