When Jesus told the desciples to follow him and he'll make them fishers of men?

Do you think they were disappointed they didn't get to use nets or poles?

For me, fishing is theraputic. Seeing people try to spread the word stresses me out...quite the opposite. Is using the term "fisher" really a fair comparison here?

He wanted them to trap people in the net of the gospel - that's why he used that analogy.

But the bible does say that they went fishing for fish on at least one occasion.

Being as when he spoke those words he was at the sea shore. So he was using words they would understand to make them realize they under his guidance would become leaders of men and bring them to GOD. Being as these words were spoken only to the future Apostles they were meant specifically for them. I'm trying to recall if any where in the Gospels if Jesus told the General public to become fishers of men or to gain new followers and i do not believe so. That is why he chose certain men to lead and teach people to obey GOD as to turn such a important mission over to just anybody would cause great confusion and divisions. Jesus knew our hearts and the nature of man thus he chose certain men to carry on his mission.

Hey, salesman are evil. He was trying to sell them into the idea that doing this was a good thing..... The bait and switch method and/or being vague and letting people assume are the tricks of the trade..... Most ppl aren't too happy when they have been had by a salesman, but they can't get angry cuase at the end of the day it was their decision to make and they made it..... Wow, who knew my job was so spiritual!!!

lol You had me worried for a minute there. It was a term that people understood from a different perspective than we do now. It was the whole fishing experience. Theirs was sustenance. Ours is leisure/sport.

No, being a shepherd of men might have been more accurate. I have heard a shepherds job is pretty stressful at times. lol
