  • Monday, (3/17) the courts awarded Washington Mutual $382 million dollars in damages in a court case involving a subsidary Anchor Savings Bank and the government. Besides the damages, the U. S. Court of Federal Claims awarded Anchor Bank an additional amount in taxes. Well, as always, the government is expected to appeal the decision.

Friday morning, the premarket trading shares of Washington Mutual fell $1.09--or 10.3% to $9.50. They closed at $10.59 Friday afternoon. As of 9/19 evening it's at $9.83... but this has little to do with WM futures... they just reduced the prime interest rate which has affected all stock market prices.

It looks like WaMu is alive and kicking to me.

They are in trouble with some things just like most other financial institutions are. Will they fall like Bear Stearns? I don't think so.

Oh, I sure HOPE so! I am so SICK of their daily junk mailings! In fact, that's probably why they are going under.
