Does anyone see the irony in Obamas "uniter" message?
Some uniter, the country has not been this divided since 1995 when OJ was found not guilty

At what point in the entire history of the USA has the country been united?
I can say that the country has never been truly united. There always seems to be some issue dividing the country in half; ie, independance from Europe, slavery, Civil War, Race relation, seperation of church and state... the list continues.
Is there one person who could truly unite this country? If so I would like to meet him/her.

Interesting that he mentioned OJ in his Philly speech and interesting the parallel that you picked up on, which is so TRUE!! The country was VERY divided on whether OJ was guilty or innocent, just as it is now. And people were vehement about their feelings, just as now.
Now I see where Obama is fighting AGAINST letting Michigan do a re-vote. He says the republicans should re-vote there also. What a yellow herring!! Maybe he thinks the Limbaugh republicans will switch over to give him help and then trounce him in Nov?? If he were truly a LEADER and a UNITER he would speak up that all the votes in Michigan and Florida should be counted, but he doesn't because he just wants to win, no matter how.
Even Hillary is saying that if the DNC disses Mich and Fla, then McCain will be more than HAPPY to have their votes in Nov. And she is very smart and right about this. Obama is being a pompous a**.

Not sure irony is a strong enough word. For me, and many I have spoken to, the whole race issue was so 'resolved' within us that it hardly even came up in thought. Now it is a big deal in my life and it is gut wrenching. He has opened up old wounds for the whole country and dumped acid in them. Just as bad a divider as old GWB. Not only that... I am terribly afraid he has lost the presidency for us. This all needed to come out before super Tuesday. Now he has enough points he could get the nomination even though he won't win more states. There is NO WAY possible he can be president. I lay this all at his feet. If he wanted to be president, he needed to step away from the racist church and go someplace where decent people meet. Oh and on the laaaamme comparison to this as being like a catholic going to a church were the priest is a molester... the priest never got on stage on Sunday morning said how great it was to molest children and that we should all do it. It was a hidden crime. Obama's so called pastor was right out on Sunday morning preaching hate the white man, hate America.

He's a great divider. In his speach he equated an anti-american racist to his white grandma and everyone that has black skin. This was just wrong. He said he could no more turn his back on Rev. Wright than he could turn his back on the black community. I don't understand this. The black communit, just like the white community and every community in america is vastly pro-american. The issue is rev. wright bashing america. It's wrong to put that in the same category as the black community, which strongly supports and is just as american as every citizen reguardless of their skin color. He made the same type of equivacation about his grandma saying she's scared when she sees several black teenagers when she's along walking down the street. Guess what Jesse Jackson said the same thing. This doesn't equate to being racists.

Right, then add Michael Vick and Michael Jackson to the collage and you will see that The preacher preaching hate works. The black Panthers supported Obama for a reason, they all hate us white folks even though my ancestry wasnt even here during the slavery years, nor was most of todays white population.

Obama is definitely giving "hints" about how his message doesn't match his worldview. His duct-taped speech sprung another leak when he compared Wright's racist invective to his actual grandmother, who "once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe."
Unlike his "old uncle" -- who is not his uncle -- Obama had no excuses for his grandmother. Obama's grandmother never felt the lash of discrimination! Crazy grandma doesn't get the same pass as the crazy uncle; she's white.
Irony indeed!

Yeah, attending a black separatist church that preaches hate for America is a pretty ironic thing for a Uniter to do. He's an ***.

His speech the other day really turned me off. The issue of race is very important and needs to be addressed, but he failed to address the issue at hand. I was not impressed.
The funny thing is, all kinds of people were making crazy allegations about him (his lack of patriotism for example) on here and elsewhere, funny thing is, between Michelle, Wright, and (domestic terrorist and Obama friend) William Ayers it seems like they were on to something.

The whole country isn't that divided- just crazy republicans who already don't want to include liberals in the country, and weren't going to vote for Obama anyway.
Most of us aren't that hyper-sensitive.
But I did learn something important from this. The video of Wright that started all this nonsense came from the McCain campaign. I had been prepared to vote for McCain in a general election against Hillary- but if that's the kind of campaign he's running, then he's completely lost my vote.

Snowfall - Obama has nothing to do with OJ, that's a huge stretch. Obama was in Chicago, OJ in LA. I don't see the connection. Are you saying they are intrinsicly linked because they are both black?
