Since when does "Loving Christian" mean we have to accept everything people do?

Here I always thought it meant love everyone, as much as we love our selves. Love those that hate you. Don't judge. That doesn't mean we can't disagree with what people think/what they do. Right? Just because we love everyone doesn't mean we have to let you do whatever you want. We can disagree with you and oppose you, but we still love you.

Update:

Sorry, don't know how that happened.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjBvv...

Update 2:

Peach, I don't agree with people calling gays an abomination. Like I said, I don't like judging others, or believe others should.

Update 3:

RedQueen, like I said, I don't condone them, or think they should have said anything. I try to live very strictly to the whole "judge not, for as ye judge so shall ye be judged." It is not my place to say gays are going to hell, they're an abomination, etc. Besides, I don't believe they are going to hell anyways.

Update 4:

Absolutely and deliriously nothing Linz. lol

Update 5:

Panglossloves, isn't that why we are all able to vote? The people control the rules and what happens. If Atheists outnumbered the Christian population, I am sure we would be hearing similar complaints about "Atheists inflicting their lack of religion on us"

Ah voting. I ♥ the democratic process.

Yep. I agree. You win. You're a smart kid. Now knock it off, you make me look bad. In case you haven't noticed, I'm way too lenient. :P

    Leviticus 18:22

'Do not have sex with a man as you would with a woman. It is an abomination.

Why would a God of love say such a thing?

Did you read the answers to Peach's question? Like it or not, they were smug and hateful.

Whether anyone cares to admit it or not, Christianity plays a big part in our laws. It's Christian groups that organize protests against gay marriage and abortion clinics, raise a fuss over stem-cell research, etc.

EDIT: Just let gays get married. It's so little to ask for, but it means so much.

i can't read your link, it's broken. however i can make a good guess as to what type of question you mean.

it's all well and good to disagree and even argue with us, that's great. it's when people in my country (i live in america) try to get their religion's rules made into laws that i have problems. so gays can't marry because it's against the law? so what's next? am i going to have to move back in with my parents because i've been living with a guy (un married!) for the last 6 years? or will i go to jail for being an atheist in your brave new christian world? DON'T MAKE YOUR OPINIONS AND RELIGIOUS BELIEFS THE LAWS AND I WON'T HAVE A PROBLEM!

also, get rid of the laws that are already on the books that are unconstitutional, like the laws against gay marrige (among others), THEN i won't be upset.

Yeah but then you're just reminding me of my mom . . . ;)

I think it's more of an upset at the people who condemn over it. If people simply disagreed with me, I'd have not problem. But when I'm told that my future has no value aside from Hell or some other terrible fate, it's an insult to me.

You've always been respectful though. So you have nothing to worry about when it comes to offending me, at least. :)

People warn you that you're on your way to hell... and it would be MORE loving to say nothing and let you just go merrily on your way-- thinking all is just fine?

If I would rightly be called "a beast" for not warning people that the bridge is out-- and that if they keep driving- they'll plunge into the chasm below? ...then how much more of a monster would I be, if I stayed silent as people go past me in life, trusting all is well, when eternity is waiting to take them down into the abyss?

    Next point:

Jesus never said, "Judge not." He said, "Judge not, lest ye be judged". Meaning-- if you do the same sin-- don't you 'dare' judge!

The Bible says, "Judge yourself so that you won't be judged". How can I do that if Jesus meant to say, "Judge not"?

But additionally Jesus said, "Judge according to righteous judgment". There's a command to judge ---right there!---

So... clearly AFTER you have judged your own problems and fixed up your OWN mess-- you can now lovingly and gently, respectfully report to people that their "bridge is out".

Paul additionally said, "The spiritual man judges ALL things, but (the spiritual man) himself, is rightly judged by no man."

The spiritual man has first judged himself, enabling himself to see clearly enough to remove the speck out of his brothers' eye... and having already judged himself, cannot rightly be judged by anyone else because he has already dealt with his own mess and walks uprightly.

Footnote: Christians don't think ANYONE is an abomination. People who say that of us are busy judging us. How ironic is that?

Sin itself-- all kinds of sin that people choose to do-- is ALL abomination-- not just one kind of sin. Anything that hurts people when done (generically named "sin"), is an abomination to God. Not what people ARE... but what people may choose to DO.

Finally, the central point of everything we say, "Jesus paid for all sin, so that all a person need do, is repent from their sin, accept Him as Lord and Savior and their sin record is forever gone... past guilt--present guilt-- any future guilt... gone... paid for by Jesus... and righteousness is the free gift they have instead.

The most loving thing we can do is to tell people this news.

When they say they're good enough, it would be terribly unloving to fail to tell them that the "bridge" they're trusting is broken. No one is good enough without Jesus. We all-- even the "goodie-2-shoes Christians"- MUST have Jesus- or else we "hit the pit" as hard and as truly as any other person would.

I don't care if you accept it or not. Just quit being a dick every time a non-Christian does something you think a Christian shouldn't do. Like telling gay people they're going to Hell.

  • You can disagree with what others do all you want. What you can not do is force your religious beliefs on others by denying them their equal rights.

Just remember that the Bible was also used not so long ago to deny interracial couples the right to marry.

This is where I think alot of Christians, Muslims, and others of faith miss the real message. You mentioned the word "oppose" and when you oppose someone, you are against them and they can no longer be loved as you love yourself because you see them as separate, different and you can't love something different as you love yourself.

Jesus disagreed with others and opposed the money changers in love. I can disagree in love but just because I disagree that does not. Give me the right to trash others beliefs, berate them, tear them apart or bash them.

I love because God is love. :-)

Your name is the answer to your question. It is easier to argue against misrepresentations and make crap up that you can "beat verbally" or ridicule or simply dismiss.. instead of actually thinking/learning about what you are arguing against, what should be done BEFORE you argue against it.
