A typical white person is a human being who has been blamed for many of the problems of many people who have not learned to get up and make something out of their life. If anything goes wrong it is the fault of the typical white person who cannot even use the word white without being accused of being racist. They are the ones who live in the communities that are very diverse. They are the ones who go to churches that are open to anyone from any walk of life. They are the ones who are taught to love thy neighbor and take blame for all the problems of those who hate anyone that seems white. Its a hard job being part native American and German and looking white and paying the price for it. God Bless all humans. Most churches will teach this. They do not see in colors.

I believe it is a racist statement also. Just imagine how a white politician would be vilified if he were to make statements referencing "typical black people". Because of our past history in this country regarding race relations there now exists a double standard. There is a belief held by many that all white people are racist in some regard whether they will admit it or not. The same people believe that minorities are not racist, but are rather just reacting to all the years of oppression. When you couple this with the sense of guilt some people feel in our society regarding previous history it becomes a very effective tool to discredit the opposition when things are not going the way you want them too. Now it would be foolish to deny that racism does not still exist because it certainly does, but the majority do not practice or condone such behavior. People ask are we ready for a minority President in this country. I believe the answer is yes, but we have to stop all the unnecessary charges of racism and agree that we are all just people and skin color determines nothing. A minority President must be able to represent all of the people fairly and the people must trust that this will be case, but neither can happen if the candidate in question is not willing to exhibit the highest moral and ethical standards in this area. That means you cannot continue associations with obvious racists and you cannot make racist statements. Martin Luther King said it best when he said that he believed all people should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. We all need to re-examine and take a lesson from this truism.

the stereotype or the reality? A typical white person is a typical person with their own ideas, fears, loves, etc. The stereotype is different based on the group you ask. A typical person is motivated by the same typical things as every other typical person, money, power, fear, etc. regardless of the shade of brown they may be. But calling any person "typical" seems sad to me. I'm tired of being reminded that I should be ashamed for being such and such a race. I am not typical and neither are you, regardless of what people in washington want you to believe. We are more than just "tax paying units".

Well, I know I'm white (a member of a racial group of people having light skin coloration, especially one of European origin.)...but...I would sure like to know how Obama defines the "qualities or characteristics" which make me a "typical white" (exhibiting the qualities or characteristics that identify a group or kind or category.).
I feel that the Caucasian population should demand of Obama an explanation of his comment so that we can better understand his mindset when it comes to "typical white persons".

Typical white person would be afraid of someone like Rev Jeremiah Wright Jr.
Someone of a different race who rants and rave and spews racist remarks at a white person..
Clinton 08

If I said Rev. Jesse Jackson is a "typical black person" alot of people would be upset. But it's okay for Obama to say "typical white person" and nobody seems to be upset about it.

I think a typical white person is someone (black, white, latino, asian, yellow, etc) that is tired of the lazy people (black, white, latino, asian, yellow, etc) who uses and abuses of the goverment. Decides to smoke weed all day as supposed to getting a job, believes in big goverment to help them take shortcuts in reaching their goals, and ultimately a white person is someone (black, white, latino, asian, yellow, etc) who believes in capitalism and in working very hard.
I am telling you this because I am latino and I lean towards McCain campaign. It isnt about the color of your skin or demographical background who should be the next president of the United States of America.
Its is about doing what is right for American and helping America first before we help the rest of the world financially, economically, and environmentally.
Thanks

Typical White Person? Hmmmmm...What does "Acting Black" mean?
- truthsayerLv 61 decade ago
Good question..
In my opinion, the more Obama talks about the race issue the more trouble he gets himself into.
Obama evidently stereotypes all white people... And this stereotype has to come from somewhere... I can't think of anything more racist that to pick a race of people and say that "one size fits all".. And that's what he's doing... Personally I think it comes from "Pastor" Wright... I don't think there is anyway that Obama is going to win the general election...
If Obama could think half as well as he can talk... He'd be a great candidate...
Java: "Nothing wrong with a typical black person calling a typical white person typical.." I suppose this is true.. But isn't Obama supposed to be about "change"... Isn't he supposed to be about getting rid of the stereotypes?
