Agree or disagree: Mothers are raising their daughters to be money hungry nowadays?

I would have to say the our society as a whole has gotten more greedy and materialistic. Tremendously so. But that applies to BOTH sexes, not just females.

Everyone wants to live the lifestyles of the fake people on TV. That is why we as a nation are in debt. Everyone has to have the big TV's, the new cars, the name brands. People just can't afford to live that way.

For the first time people are spending more than they are saving-which detrimentally affects us all since that is how we borrow money: from other people's savings.

But seriously, most women are not money hungry. Sure, we love to shop, but responsible women know what they can and cannot afford.

And please, don't base all your assumptions about women from reality TV. Those women get paid to act that trashy! :)

If anything, girls are being raised to be financially independent, encouraged to go to university and pursue a career unlike our sisters of yesteryear. Gone are the days when women needed to depend on their husbands for money. Not to say that the concept of the 'gold digger' is lost. But why do you blame the whole female population (or more specifically, their mothers) because the women YOU chose, have in YOUR opinion, left you for your lack of $ ? So DISAGREE, since feminism mothers have never been more likely to raise their daughters to NOT depend on a guy for his cash or be 'money hungry.' Maybe you are just a tightass.

No, I don't think so. I think that women are no better than men as parents. There are deadbeat dads and women who abandon, neglect and verbally abuse children. What happened in the past was the past. I suppose it is wrong not to pay child support and alimony but then again if a woman uses drugs and alcohol while pregnant, doesn't take care of the child, is distant, neglectful and in many ways a bad parent, it doesn't matter what the guy did. It is her fault because children do not choose: parents do.

If women do not want children, it is a bad idea to force it on them through marriage, social pressure, religion or any other means. It won't help. Some people should not become parents. With adoption, tubal ligation, condoms, birth control and reproductive rights, there is no reason for women to be having kids they don't want and neglecting them, using them to get men to marry them, having two or three kids on welfare to get welfare checks, using drugs while pregnant, etc. Those issues are far bigger than a fondness for the occasional Mexx or Gucci item.

Disagree. I became money hungry on my own. I was the only 10 year old with a Unique Homes Magazine, and Lottery Tickets from Grandpa. Maybe it was my grandfather? He used to give me money just to deliver the paper to him upstairs. Nice grandpa..Yup, I still love money! I am married now, and make my OWN Money. And so does my Husband, we BOTH Can't make enough to pay the bills, so I would say I'm not money hungry when it comes to marrying someone. We've been married 12 years, Poor, but Happy. So there are people who marry for a guys "Heart".

But I don't think mothers initially begin raising their daughters to be money hungry. I think the media has a big part in it. Celebrities, movies, etc. etc. It all has to do with money. So for when a woman thinks of her future, I think money always has an affect on her. Some people are just like that, though. People are all different, there are some after money, and some not. That's life.

You should look for a woman who will love you for you.....if you feel bad about your status in life...then change it. Sounds like you have problems with low self esteem. Alot of my friends pick men without money, still living with their parents.

My Daughter is being raised by a Mother who teaches her to value PEOPLE not money. i do NOT teach her that people with money are better then people without money. I teach her to LOVE and respect BOTH Men & Women.

The women on those shows are after fame, not money.

If you don't have money, get an education, get a job, and stop being whiney. Women hate whiney men more than they hate poor men.
