What is this country coming to? (a ranting question)?

OMG! I just read a question on here from someone who asked why people smile at them. They called it "an invation of their privacy", among other things.

I'm hopeing it was a sarcastic post, but in this day an age I doubt it.

Why do so many people think that if something I do, or wear, or eat, or read to myself, or yes even smile, within their site happends to offend them that they should have any kind of right to ban, or in any way attempt to stop me from doing it?

Has this country regressed to the point as to where we are ruled by a bunch of whine babies who go running to the police, or to the court system every time someone does something they happen not to like within their site? Or wears a t-shirt with an image of a flag on it that they don't like?

And as for that last question. Do you beleve that a person, or any group of people, have the right to ban all representations of any flag from a public place because they don't like what it stans for?

TBC.................

Update:

CONT........

Or do you think that by doing so it it would invade that persons rights to their freedom of expresion?

Come on people, get real. Stop crying over spilled milk, get a towel, wipe it up, wash the glass out, and pour yourself another!!!!!

If you don't like what I'm wearing, look at someone elses shirt then!

If I smile at you and your a grumpy, irritable, sad sack then you have every right to not smile back. But come on! How can you say that I am, in ANY way, invading your privacy?

Be good folks (that means to eachother too).

Liberal opinions and judges who let people get awards for lawsuits where someone was offended by something simple was the begining of it all. (Bring on the thumbs down here). I no longer refer to the United States of America as such, to me it is now the United States of the Offended. If someone is offended by what is on tv then turn the channel or turn it off. If you dont like what is on the radio, change the station or turn it off. I for one am offended by any one that talks bad about our government or military with no basis, but you dont see me suing anyone do you? I either walk away or don't listen.

Now I will agree that we all will have differing opinions on everything, and there is no way for us to completely be offense free. I also understand that there are times when you should not have to be subjected to certian opinions, such as at work where you might not be able to walk away. Of this I have no problem.

Have we gotten to the whiny babies ruling us? I think so. I also think that these same whiny babies are the ones that want the government to take over and rule every part of their lives because they have no self reliance skills, or they are too lazy or to scared to 'live on their own'.

The population of the world continues to grow, and along with it there are more and more weird people and weird opinions amongst us as well. Why you get all worried about an occasional fluke? Much of the reason is that in modern times we have become an information society and the free flow of information with less oppressivness on peoples' opinions results in more people "experimenting" with odd ideas. Just the same, we have a lot of good ideas that come from this free thought too, perhaps you might be tempted to become too cynical to see them. Just think how blacks and women were treated back in your "less regressed" days. Back in your "good ol times", a man was tormented all his life for having a beard, witches were burned at the stake, people had their lives ruined for being suspected of being communists, people were ashamed of normal sexual behaviors, children had no voice when abused, women could not vote, etc etc etc. Depends on how you look at it.

I agree, this society as a whole has been conditioned to think that anything in THEIR view, reach , sight or range of hearing should be tailored to THEIR comfort level or to their liking. To top it off , they can try to SUE if something offends them.

Didn't we used to ignore stuff that bothered us?

Blatantly offensive things I understand, but t- shirts, signs, etc- good night just ignore it.

That's why some people have alot of friends and some people just don't have any friend at all.
