    Hi Blue

Why waste energy in a negative and harmful emotion for a non sentient thing? Religion is a man made vehicle that is used, misused and downright abused by people. It is in and of itself not bad. Even atheism is a religion. Everything practiced habitually becomes part of our belief system. To hate is a word that is vastly overused in that it has such horrid connitations attatched to is and is used like love...recklessly. I love people, but I am often sickened and ashamed by some of the truly horrendous things that we are capable of. When I use the word "hate" it is not meant in the traditional sense, but rather in the sense that I work to avoid being around certain affectations or situations. In other words if I find myself around someone or something that makes me uncomfortable or doesn't jibe with my own wellbeing, I remove myself. I don't expend energy on "hating" it. In fact, to tell you the honest truth...I can't understand the sense of satisfaction that a lot of people get by "hating" and loving the diatribes in expression of those hates. But then, I've always been different. LOL. I have never liked being negative and would always try to see other points of view. After all, if something does not affect me personally, or hurt me why should I "hate it" ? Everyone has a right to believe however they wish. If someone chooses to worship frogs I may find it amusing, crazy, silly etc. but if that's what they want to do...okie dokie then. If we people put forth as much energy in focusing on world problems instead of spiritual choices and our disagreements with them, wow. Just think of what we might accomplish! We might actually then be able to unite in a common goal of fixing the problems of this world that affect our lives, and not worrying about our views of the afterlife by then of course the state of the world won't matter to the dead, but our families will still be in a morass of chaos and other problematic issues. LOL look at me...you have me thinking of all the wonderful things that we could attain if we didn't dicker over whose right and wrong in spiritual matters, I forgot we argue over everything anyway. Oh well. Sign me out as someone who still has hope for higher ideals in her heart.

    Hugs, Pami

Probably because of being steeped in legalism.

I don't care for the term to love the sinner and hate the sin because if you love everyone, [and every one is a sinner], then you cover the sin, not hate it. For love covers a multitude of sins and love delights in overlooking a fault.

I dont think that is hard to grasp at all. I think its apparent when someone loves me, but disagrees with me rather than just hates the whole deal and what I'm about. Huge difference in my opinion.

  • I'm sorry you've come across people who don't grasp the latter concept. I'm a Christian and I understand that everyone doesn't share my beliefs, so of course they aren't going to agree with my religion. I honestly don't like to use the word "religion" though because it can become misconstrued. I prefer to say that I'm a follower of Jesus.

Can you Hate Love or Love hate. I am sure maybe some do But I think thats where the line is drawn. Christians know that we Love to Love not Love to Hate or Hate to Love.

I have no problem with "love the person hate the religion."

I just don't see a lot of that going on. Generally speaking, atheists on RS call Christians names, compare them unfavorably to animals, and find new insults to spread around like manure. That to me is not "loving the person."

religion will send people to hell as fast as not being forgiven for the sin .I am an old school Christian I guess ,I go by the word and I don't twist it to suit what I think it should mean.

The Lord wants me to love everyone and to treat them as I would want to be treated with respect and compassion and that is exactly what I do .Hate is not allowed by The Lord and is also not practiced by me .I hate no one regardless of their sexual preference ,their beliefs or their color .I respect your choices as do I respect my own .

All too many Christians actually seem to follow: Love the Sin, Hate the Sinner. They condemn others then do the same things themselves.

I hate to inform you, but on here and in the rest of the world if you don't believe the exact same way I do then you are screwed and I can't be your friend, sorry.

If it wasn't for that pesky religion thing I thought we could have been the best of buddies.

Just kidding, but seriously that is how some people react to things on here.

I lost my best friend because her mother poisoned her against LDS beliefs, she called me and left a voice mail telling me I can't be your friend because you joined a cult and tried to bring it into my home.

Where was Christ love then? I accepted her friendship even when she was studying Wicca. I may not have liked what she was doing or her beliefs, but I would never end a friendship over religion.

"religion is not the way to heaven and God does not love sinners until they repent and turn to him.he died for them but they are Satan's kids until salvation"

You are right, religion is not the way to heaven, having a belief in God and Christ, seeking salvation, repenting of sins, and living the commandments is the way to heaven.

However, God DOES love all of HIS children, sinners and non sinners(is there such a thing?). Have you forgotten that we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God? God loves each of us the same, he just dislikes the sin.

Mostly, I suppose because we don't care. Love is a four letter word that some people think causes them to be better in some way, simply by saying it.
