Can anyone suggest a good laptop? Please?
Hi i am about to go to university and would like a laptop that will allow me to hold pictures and do all the normal things like word processing, powerpoint etc but also give me the power and graphics to hold demand CAD and photoshop software.
Any ideas? I do not want it to be to expensive, less that £1000, preferable nearer £600. In a perfect wolrd the laptop that i am looking at are at around the 15" size as it does not have to be ultraportable but i will have to take it to Uni.
Thank you in advanced, i have been looking at the ACER ASPIRE 5920G, DELL XPS M1530, DELL INSPIRON 1525

hp or compaq are really good mid range computer. Get at least 2gig ram and the features you want. The 15.4 or 14.1 hd wide screen is good.

I would go with the Dell XPS M1530 it has enough power for what you want it to do, but I don't suggest to do any type of CAD work on it unless you have a larger monitor hooked up to it. You need a larger screen to do CAD work because of all the Icons. I personally have a Sony Vaio VGN-AR730, which has a 17" screen with AUTOCAD 2008 and PHOTOSHOP CS3 loaded on it. I mostly use my desktop to do serious CAD work. Just my 2 Cents.

I have the Dell XPS M1530. I think you'll like this one. I'm pretty happy with it and I've worked on multitudes of computers, I'm a computer tech, so I am kind of picky and it works for me.

It depends on what kind of things you want to do on it. If you just want a laptop to go onto the internet, then I recommend the new Macbook. Fastest thing I've ever experienced! It comes with the new Leopord and Mac OS X. If you have a lot of business to take care of on your laptop, then I recommend te Macbook Pro. Has a lot of extra space now, and it also comes with Leopoard and the new OS X. you might want to research on it a little bit. If you are in a price budget, then I wouldcheck dell laptops. Really good with business,a dn are reasonable. For web browsing, Macbook.

dont get an ACER, they are crap and have a life of about 1 year...had 3 of them through uni cos of this :(
I use a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ11Z and no problems so far, its got 200GB hard drive, 512MB Graphics and 2GB Ram...HOWEVER, it was quite expensive, and in all honesty, Dell are a much better brand, more reliable (not that this isnt reliable) and they have BRILLIANT customer services.
If you get a dell, get the XPS series as they are the best
