how do i record one channel while watching another channel on a dvd/vcr combo?

i have being searching for a dvd/vcr combo with a tuner that would allow me to record one channel while watching another one, but i didn't have any luck. all the combos are with out tunner, and the dvd player have also a recorder and they are expensive, about 200 dollars. could you please advise me on where to find a combo with a tunner and how to hook it up to record one channel while watching another? i am not intersted on recording on a dvd, only on VHS? thanks.

    VCR's aren't usually that smart. They can only think about one channel at a time, that's what most tuners do. Your best bet is to split the signal: one to your VCR, set it up to record, and then run the other signal directly into your TV (assuming it has a built-in tuner), to watch what you want meanwhile. A VCR is like a Guy, it can't think about one thing while talking about another. Until they make female VCR's, you're just gonna have to split the signal.
