lol....good question. society acts like becuase you are a successful football player (or athlete for that matter) that you aren't regular people. they place nfl players on a pedastal expecting them to either completely stay out of troubel or to turn the other cheek when in reality trouble can happen anywhere. these guys are just like everyone else. they make mistakes, they have fights and they put their pants on one leg at a time. the funny thing is, we (society) put them on this pedastal but when they make a mistake we want to "label them thugs (or whatever else)" and wish and hope they dont a get a second chance. its rediculous!

The media usually applies the thug label to those with a troubled past, say in high school or college.

It suggests a pattern of personal behavior.

Thugs in hockey are more like "goons" or "enforcers" and fighting is a part of their job in essence.

The media does unfairly apply the label, and it does seem to be predominantly leveled on black players. There have been white "thugs" like Bill Romanowski.

All professional athletes are roll models and the youth of the world look up to them. If they do things outside the lines they are labeled thugs or get a bad rap so that the youth can see that it was wrong and should not want to be like that person for that reason. Micheal Vick got a bad rap for the crimes that he has done to show the world that those kinds of actions will not be tolerated and you shouldn't want to be like him in that aspect.

NY GUY GOOGLE ME!! - What the Keck are you talking about??? This is not a black and white issue. The only one that is turning it that way is you. Jarred Allen got the rap of a thug until this past season because he was always drinking, partying, fighting getting traffic tickets on and on. Guess what HE IS WHITE!!! America would be able to get over these kind of issues if people like you would stop pushing it. All this happened in the past and I or anybody I know had a part in it. If my Great Grand Father did I don't know and don't care, it wasn't me. More than likely it you didn't have any part of it either.

Because if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it's a duck...even though some may say it's a witch...others will say it is a swan. To me it's still a duck.

I don't remember anyone saying anything about minorities...you said it.

If you are making that kind of money, why the hell are you out getting in fights, beating women or even driving a car after drinking for that matter? Some people have more money that brains...unfortunately for the NFL they are at the top of the list.

Why? Because it is usually 1 out of every 250 players that is a Tank Johnson/Michael Vick/Pacman Jones...although MV + PJ are in a league of their own when it comes to being a thug.

because nfl players do it to inexperienced people that cant fight or if they do their hanging with the wrong people

hockey players do it but get over it eventually

and some nfl players act and play with thugs

    because people are @$$ holes

    this is a fact

Brett Farve and his family has gotten in more trouble then Sean Taylor look it up its a fact this was on so many radio stations when the BEST ****** SAFETY THE NFL HAS EVER SEEN DIED!!!!

and what was he a thug for??? all he did was 2 things

*he "supportively" waved a gun at people that stole his ATV's (this was never proven)

*he got pulled over for DUI

the first 1 he waved a gun at people that stole his ATV's WTF?? 9 out of 10 people would have shot the people

the second he got pulled over for DUI, uhhhh ok most people who drink have gotten pulled over or have driven while drunk

Because that is what thugs do, they fight and get into trouble.

  • 1 decade ago

its because they are all expected to behave like good citizens so they don't make the nfl look bad and when they do something little like a fight, they are considered immature, and a thug (mostly for minorities)

  • 1 decade ago

Its because everyone knew that he was a thug before he proved he was one.

To the idiots above me, stop with all the minority boo hooing. Certain races of people have a animal mentality. You can say anything you want to, but the fact remains they are still savages.
