What are the benefits and drawbacks of moving to Tampa, FL?

I have an option between moving to buffalo and moving to tampa -- if you're from tampa or have lived there, tell me about it, please.

the more generic, the less helpful ("it's a unique city!" doesn't help)

the more specific, the more helpful ("part of town X is a really down to earth place, lots of coffee shops, etc")

I'm not interested in hearing about clubs and bars, i know about them - i'm interested in pretty much any other info you can offer.

I've never been to Buffalo but I've lived in the Tampa area all my life. There are some great areas like New Tampa, Brandon, Westchase, Hyde Park. These areas have a lot of new growth and are fairly affluent. Of course depending on where you will be working I would check into these different areas. Brandon is a little more rural and South East of Tampa. New Tampa has a lot of new areas but bad traffic and is NOrth East of Tampa. Hyde Park is older but very very nice, it has great shopping and located the closest to Downtown Tampa. Westchase is another newer area and has some great homes and areas and is North West of Tampa.

I do know one thing about Tampa that is different then Buffalo, theres no winter, or at least not a very bad one. The humidity is pretty bad, but you get used to it.

While Tampa really doesn't have any beachs of it's own there are great ones very close in Pinellas county and there are very many wonderful fresh water places to play and have fun.

A down side to Tampa is that it's fairly expensive to live here. Not as bad as some places, but definatly not good.

When it comes to things to do, it's really a personal preference thing, but it would be hard to not find something to your liking. There are always festivals, shows, and events going on somewhere in the area, the best places to look are at TBO.com and in the TBT magazine (local daily publication)

    I hope this helps some.

Tampa's a great place. get exhilaration from the gentle. it particularly is properly surely worth the flow besides the reality that notice that there is a good number of storms and it rains like customary! flow clubbing... JK. in case you desire to, flow to the sea coast. Drink Pina Colada's.. that's what i could do!
