Straight edge tattoo?

I agree with the first answer, it's your tattoo so it should be what you want it to be. If you aren't sure, don't do anything and asking for advice on what it is sized or a best location or something like that is fine but design should be your choice. Go talk to an artist about drawing it up to see what you like best and keep going back until you are sure of it. No need to rush, best of luck!

-Straight edge is a commitment to not drinking or doing drugs ever. Staying clean, hense straight edge. It was started back when there weren't youth areas so groups with teenagers would go into bars to meet and the bar tenders could recognize to not sell them alcohol by the X on their hands. A common arrangment is xXx, my cousine has this in fact. XXX (all caps X's) would be more likely to mean the adult industries than having a variation in sizes. I've done the homework on it because I plan on getting something like this too in time. It's not a label or band wagon thing, this is a personal commitment to not do drugs.

It is your skin, do what you think you should do with it, not what other people tell you. Maybe some people might link xXx with porn, but a fellow straight edger will know what it means. And maybe you want people to question what the xXx is all about, which can give you the opportunity to tell them about the straight edge lifestyle - but this can probably go with the sXe too for people who aren't familiar with what it stands for.

Just remember, a tattoo is for life, as is straight edge. If you get a tattoo and sell out, you may regret getting the tattoo.

I respect that you have that kind of control and I am also planning on getting one. I've seen what drugs and alcohol can do to a person and their health. I think it is a great idea just make sure you get it in the right space.

go with the sXe one. or you could just get Xs tattooed on the backs of your hands, since that is the most recognized symbol.

straight edge was not started or the term coined by kids who wanted to get into bars but not drink, it was about venues. most people who are straight edge have grown up listening to punk/hardcore, where the term was first coined. (minor threat song) the term grew into something big and eventually into what it is today, where people with no ties to underground music know what it is. it had nothing to do with youth groups or whatever you are talking about.

I would suggest looking up exactly what straight edge means before you go doing it.. A tattoo is forever. Don't just get this common tattoo just because of a stereotype or label. Do it because you really have considered it, and you want to get it.
