white fuzzies?
i was cleaning my show tank (40 gal) yesterday and noticed this little white stuff everwhere. its on the plants (real and fake) gravel, filters, decorations. the only thing it isnt on is the glass and the fish (thankfully). i did a really thorough cleaning and got every speck off that i could. then this morning its all back! everywhere, just like last time.
the stuff looks like little cotton balls just floating around the tank. i have no idea where it came from, it wasnt there one day then was there the next. i just cant get rid of it and no idea what the stuff is.
any help would be great. thanks!

It's bacterial. Did you clean it out so thoroughly that you disrupted the natural bacteria in there? Do you have another tank that you can steal some gravel from to replenish the natural balance? You might want to put some plants in there. They come with their own infusoria which will eat the bacteria and keep your tank cleaner that way. When cleaning your tank, remember that the crud that's covering the walls and plants is actually beneficial, because those are the bacteria that cycle your tank, processing ammonia and nitrites, turning them into nitrates. Next time, be less thorough, or at least don't do your filter at the same time as cleaning all your tank. When cleaning your filter, don't use tap water but instead swish the media out in the old aquarium water. The stuff is harmless, but you may want to keep an eye on your water parameters because you may have sent your tank into another cycling.

Sounds like some sort of algae to me. If it were a disease, it would have affected the fish first. Most algae feeds on lighting. Try reducing the lighting to a minimum. If you have live plants they will need some lighting, but the fish will be fine without it. Also, be sure you are not getting direct sunlight. That will feed algae rapidly.
Hope this helps-

The stuff is fungus because of the fact I as quickly as had a Bubble Eye goldfish and it had a fungus that's the white stuff. I took it lower back to the save. I did hours of study on fungus. i ought to be youthful ,yet i'm noticeably intelligent. additionally i'm a fish expert as you are able to tell by applying my call.i'm an aspiring Marine Biologist. additionally it ought to be ick that's an especially risky parasite. Ick has a organic enemy salt, yet do no longer purely placed any sort of salt you like non-iodized or straightforward salt. Iodine will kill fish. in case you do try salt placed one tablespoon in in line with 5 gallons. My black Moore goldfish had Ick and placed salt in once I did a water replace and all of it cleared up.All yeah Ick exhibits up as White dots that look like sugar or salt. on no account placed SALT IN whilst FISH ARE latest exceedingly in case you have A SMALL TANK you will BURN YOUR FISH. All yeah ick is led to by applying tension and/or undesirable water high quality.
