Do you think we should ask Yahoo to add another category to the music?
section for all the lame bands that for some reason are considered Rock & Roll that really aren't? You know, bands like My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Maroon 5, etc? That way us REAL rockers can discuss true rock & roll music instead of that crap? What would you call this new category and who else would you throw in there?

Alternative?? ROFL Isn't that what they used to call Nirvana back in the early 90's before "grunge". They are NOT alternative.
Colonel - I couldn't agree more!

Sometimes I feel as if us "REAL rockers" need to get off our high horse. Granted, those bands are all abysmal but who are we to say that people shouldn't have the right to talk about them at the adult table? Good luck asking Yahoo much of anything. They couldn't care less what any of us think. Just because MCR and FOB questions show up in here doesn't prevent me from discussing "REAL" rock.
OK, so like I woke up around 4am in a cold sweat, thinking, "Damn, those Maroon 5 questions are sucking away at my will to live, can somebody save me from my inner torment?"
Oh yeah, Gerard is the Savior.
Prof - Thanks, man, good to see you on this SLOWWWWW Tuesday.

Maybe there could be a pop category and a rock n roll category, that way Fall Out Boy and Avril have their own section, while the rock goes in the rock category. Rock and pop is way to huge of a category anyways.

There was a question about phyto-remediation and whether sunflowers could be useful to get rid of radiation. Phy... is the growing of plants to remove contaminants from soil. An answer was created and could not be logged - question removed. Why? Perhaps the questioner removed it, perhaps some one objected to the question. If you are not prepared to do some research do not object to subjects. I have noticed more questions being marked down when the comments are rather innocuous. Some very good contributions are marked down as well, the person doing the marking down presumably the only one not marked down. All comments contribute so perhaps an appeal to these people, ..........mark ' Up ' only. Locate the good stuff. GL>

I couldn't possibly agree with Rckts more.
All you guys have to do is ignore the link. Sure, it's annoying when you have a day of "emo this" and "emo that" but it's not THAT big of a deal.
I get the gripes, trust me, but there is no solution that is functional and doesn't create even more inanity through new, even stupider arguments that will create even more unnecessary drama (i.e. these bands are both rock and pop simultaneously therefore if you split the categories it will just turn into a ridiculous "why are you posting here" "we're not pop" type of argument that has no right side and no resolution).
I really don't see what all of the fuss is about.

Good to see you too my friend. As much as I don't wish it on any of you guys, I'm kind of glad it's slow today. Keeps me workin (and I'm certainly not short on things I need to get done).

Yeah, this has been brought to the attention of Y!A in the Forum.
I guess Rock, Pop, Classic, and Metal would be most logical in my mind.
I brought up the equipment question in the forum. I suggested calling it Music Tech. I do think it would be a good idea to separate that also, there are a lot of questions there about instruments, amps, effects pedals, learning to play this that and the other, etc.

yes, that would be Alternative
please, let us use some intelligence
great bands like the ones you listed are only in R&P because that is the closest thing to alt., considering it's a sub-genre of rock
no one said they were Rock and Roll in the first place!
AND it is ROCK and POP, we don't call it R&R, so perhaps YOU should ask for your own category

Ok
People can be like me and can like EVERY TYPE OF ROCK (SOAD, Fall Out Boy, Nirvana)
A New category could be "disscussing music with crakheads"

It would be called... MUSIC THAT HAS TALENT AND DOES NOT SELL THEMSELVES OUT AND IS NOT PLAYED ON MTV OR ON THE RADIO AND IS MUSIC THAT IS ACTUALLY NEW AND GOOD....
You see Yahoo! would have a hard time putting a category like this. So even though I am with you on throwing out all the fag bags that think they know unheard music out, or listen to radio and MTV artist only and are closed minded, it probably wont happen.

yeah i think it would be nice to ask yahoo add a new category just for METAL music i really want it...and yeah rock music should have a category for itself too..i mean rock and metal are huge music genres with their own fans and they need their own categories

id call it bubblegum pop....we also need a category just for musician as well.....where theory, technique, and gear can be discussed.....maybe we could get better bands out of it...lol
