Why does God want us to show faith in him?

God doesn't just want you to believe. He wants you to live your life in a relationship with him. He desires that his creation will freely love and worship him. He can't have that without your cooperation.

It's not about living a good life. It's about living a life in and through him.

God wants us to have faith in Him because God loves us. This is th essence of the Gospel. See John 3:16. Faith enables God to work in our lives. God does want us to be good people. See Psalm 34:14 Depart from evil, and do good, seek peace and pursue it. (Good) works are the manifestation of faith. In James there is a discussion about faith and works See James 2: 14 -18. Revelation 2:20 Behold I stand at the door and knock : if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to sup with him and he with me.

Then there is this very similar promise for you.

Matthew 7:7 Ask and it shall be given you; seek,and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

The holy Quran(Koran) is the true words of God almighty. One of the powerful proofs (may be most powerful one) is its amazing scientific nature. Holy Quran is a Book revealed to Prophet Muhammad 1400 year ago but it says about Big Bang, Big Crunch, Expanding Universe and so many other advanced scientific aspects!! Because there's no actual proof or logical thought process that would lead one to assume a god, so... that's basically all that's left.
