Beta Strep test why?

Question

I have 2 kids and one on the way and all of my kids I have tested Neg. for Beta Strep however when I had my daughter she had it but not I. I just saw the obgyn yesterday and he told me that my test was neg. again this time with my son and I told him that my daughter had it but I didn't when she was born he told me that I needed antibodics when I go into labor with my son (soon I hope been a very long pregnancy for me) is this a precaution step that is taken when they find out the child has beta but not the Mom?

I think that they are just wanting to try to keep little one safe, which is understandable. As the previous poster mentioned, it may have become a postive result afterwards, but as they only test once, they may not realize it. Obviously since it has happened before, they just want to take the precautions! Good luck!

The confusing thing about the Beta test it women that have it... it comes and goes... so when you tested for it you may not have had it. BUT when your baby was born you must have had it at that time... sooo the antibiotics should be a caution... and I really think more women should be on it... because if they only test the mom once for beta thats not always accurate results... good luck to u hun and congrats on the baby!!
