I find that there was definitely a difference between my CCM Externos and the new Easton Synergy 800.

Skating speed will still be determined by your technique and strength, but you will notice a difference in how quickly you wear out.

Tacks are heavy, comparatively speaking. And those aren't even the good tacks- a low end composite boot, while more expensive, will be much lighter and high performance. Which is pretty much the reason they no longer make tacks.

The Tacks line is, unfortunately, being phased out by CCM (my first skates were the Tackaberry line, shortened to Tacks). If you can find a pair of ProTacks, they'll be lighter than the 652's; you might find them at a pretty good price!.

CCM was acquired by Reebok (RBK) a few years ago; both companies have seperate lines of skates.

A value comparison could be a RBK 3k/5k skate, or a Bauer Classic (if you want a more traditional look/fit), or a Bauer XXX.

The newer models have lighter, stiffer materials which require less break-in time than the old traditional leather-based skates.

how bout try try try on skates till you find the one that fits your foot the best. Each brand fits different so pick one that fits your foot the best. worrying about 20 or 30 grams is not going to matter for an average rec player even top of the line rec player like me. As long as it is comfy don't sweat the grams. pick up a dollar bill thats a gram

It is true that when somebody dies instantly 21 grams of weight leaves your body there isn't actually any scientific explanation for it. One explanation that has been made is that it is your soul but there isn't actually any evidence. Could be though, it's a nice idea.

Just go for the Nike-Bauer skates!

They are the best!
