Do Non-muslims deserve to be punished?

A question-and-answer session with Imam Abdul Makin in an East London mosque asks why Allah would tell Muslims to kill and rape innocent non-Muslims, including their wives and daughters, according to Islam Watch.

"Because non-Muslims are never innocent, they are guilty of denying Allah and his prophet," the Imam says, according to the report. "If you don't believe me, here is the legal authority, the top Muslim lawyer of Britain."

The lawyer, Anjem Choudary, backs up the Imam's position, saying that all Muslims are innocent.

"You are innocent if you are a Muslim," Choudary tells the BBC. "Then you are innocent in the eyes of God. If you are not a Muslim, then you are guilty of not believing in God."

Choudary said he would not condemn a Muslim for any action.

"As a Muslim, I must support my Muslim brothers and sisters," Choudary said. "I must have hatred to everything that is not Muslim."

This both amazing, and yet not surprising. Speaking as someone who is a member of a religion that truly believes in peace, I would think that all people who claim to believe in peace would be outraged at this.

The Jews, the Christians, and the Muslims all have holy books that contain the Ten Commandments. One of those says "Thou shall not Kill." It does not say to not kill only certain people. Yet Jews, Christians, and Muslims amongst all religions have killed more people in the name of religion than any other in the history of mankind. I am, by no means, saying that all Muslims are killers, anymore than all Christians and all Jews are killers, but have any of you actually read your holy books?

As an outsider, I feel compelled to use the politically incorrect phrase, "You all look alike to me." I must say, I am certain that MY people are tired of being killed in the crossfire between the three sects of Abraham. If London really had lawmaker that believed in peace, they would put Imam Abdul Makin in a hospital for the criminally insane and would at least, disbar Anjem Choudary from ever practicing law in the U.K.

I really like the thumbs down! Many are just calling these people "extreemists" or "radicals." They are calling for the random killing and rape of anyone who is not muslim. How are they any different from any other murderer? John Wayne Gacy was not a "radical Christain." He was a murderer. Either the Jewish treatment of the Palistinians, the Christian inquisition, and Imam Abdul Makin are ALL simply radical believers in their faith, or they are ALL murderers.

“If you are not a Muslim, then you are guilty of not believing in God." This seems contradictory…

I thought Muslims maintain that Allah is the same God of the Bible, and the message of the Qur'an is consistent with that of the Bible. It seems we are fighting over a name. Allah (al meaning the, and ilah meaning God) Vs. Yahwah (I am who I am). Different cultures use various different words, i.e., some call it agua (Spanish), some call it eau (French), and it’s still water.

The Qur'an speaks of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elias, Jonah, John the Baptist, and Yeshua. They also believe that various elements of the original scriptures were modified over time and are no longer the original divine revelations given to Moses.

One must recognize that much of what we assume to be religious differences are in all actuality cultural differences, due to man-made rules and misinterpretations of scriptures.

Only if they did something against the law. Same applies for Muslims.

Persecuting non-Muslims just because of their religion is not permissible in Shari'a law.
