LDS: Do you want a place to go to discuss LDS issues without having to worry about "anti's"?
I've seen several people over the last few months ask if there was a place where they could go to ask an LDS based question where they could only get LDS answers. One person wanted to talk with an adult about something, but didn't want to talk to parents or the Bishop just yet.
Recently, I've had questions deleted for "chatting" or "solicitation", which did not set well with me. So I'm attempting to do what YA wants us to do, go to a group to "chat". However, since the last time I included a website in my details it was deleted for "solicitation" I'm asking that you email me and I'll give you the link to the new group. If people enjoy it, then I'll continue to moderate it, otherwise it will fade off into cyberspace.
No, that's not it at all. And it's not just for teens, anyone who can convince me of their "LDSness" can join. There have been times when I wanted to ask a question or get some feedback on an issue, but I wasn't about to discuss it here - now there's a place.
I'll leave it to the members on here as to what they want to do about wonderful non-members like glade*. What do you think, members only, or members and people like glade*?
So far, it sounds like it will be for members and people like glade* and Hopscotch.
For the website, just go to my account page and email me. I'll leave this question open until sometime Monday.
Hey this question made it through the night! Awesome!!
Yes, I've asked a similar question before - maybe a year or so ago. The point then was I was fed up with YA. The point with this one is not to stop coming here, and instead go there, but to allow a place for questions too personal for the world to see, but that an LDS answer is needed, and also a place to "chat" (as YA calls it) without fear of getting a violation.
MANY of you think it would be a great idea, but I haven't received any emails asking for the website. It's already set up, but I didn't want to post the site on here because I never know if my questions are going to make it through the night or get reported in the wee hours of the morning before I can pick a BA. However, this one will be up until Monday - if it lasts that long.
Alan, yes, there's always church meetings, but they aren't private they are very public and not usually the best place to ask SOME questions. I usually don't have more than a second or two
to converse with anyone, let alone find a room for a Q&A session.
And it looks like some are voting via thumbs up/down for the LDS or LDS and glade* types question. So we'll see. If you email me, include your preference there too. If there's no emails by Monday then I'll assume there's no interest.
I haven't gotten your email bubblewrap. Not sure why.
Ahh, beachlady, no, not secret and this time not sacred. It's just that I've recently gotten reported for chatting and "solicitation" which I can only assume was because I posted a link to a website. So in my questions I'm trying very hard not to post a link. The whole point of this group I'm trying to create is to have a place to discuss in more detail questions or topics that we get "chatting" violations for if we try to do so here.
Given your past answers, no, you probably wouldn't "get in".

There are at least two other non-Mormons beside myself I know of who like to discuss issues that include Mormon thought, but because of the deletions and constant harassment are souring to this.
Edit:
I wasn't looking for an invite so much as wanting you to know Tonya, there are non_Mormons who have asked sincere questions or sincerely answered questions related to Mormonism that have also been deleted, or have been harassed. That does get old. I have had questions and answers deleted...."B" has, "Alan" has, "Lola" has...People who have strong connections to Mormonism and love for the people...I am not suggesting I posess sufficient "LDSness" for consideration of inclusion in your elite LDS website.

Yes, I would like to go to a site where there are no "anti" replies. I mean, I totally understand if people don't agree with what we believe in and explain why they feel the way they do. I just hate it when people bash and say mean or hateful things about the church. Some things are totally uncalled for.
One place I like to go for LDS discussions is LDS Linkup. They have online discussions and chatting for members of the church, and it's a good place to ask questions. I mean, there are still weirdos on there, but it's not too bad.

But I think having a Yahoo group would be nice, too. Yes, I'm interested in joining.

Yes--that sound's like a plan. I have been a member of the church for 25 years, but I still have questions that I would have a hard time asking people that I know--for fear of feeling silly. I'm game.

We do have a place where we can talk about LDS issues and not get violation notices. It's called Sunday School and Relief Society. Unfortunately on the R&S forum it's almost anything goes, that includes the anti's.
- How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

I'd love that. But the last thing I need is another distracting website while I'm at work. I'll join, but I'll try not to participate much.
And I think glade b, Mr. Hopscotch, and similar type people should be welcome also.
Edit: Alan, I can see it from that perspective. But I was thinking more of a place I could ask questions in preparation for a Sunday School lesson or something without having to endure the brilliant observations that Mormon is a moron with an extra M.

Tonya, I believe you have asked this before. At the time I said that this forum was satisfactory for my purposes and that I didn't mind sharing my thoughts with all comers. Yes, I prefer to share them with people having honest concerns and seeking honest answers. However, I can appreciate your reasons for wanting a more exclusive forum. I fear that being exclusionary does our cause more harm than good. We need to reach out to all interested people and not shut ourselves in a closet where we can be happy by ourselves. That was one of the criticisms of being at BYU in "Happy Valley", Utah. Nevertheless, BYU has its purpose to raise a strong following that can then go out into the world to share what we have learned. Enter to Learn and Go forth to Serve. I think that the Yahoo Q/A forum is part of the go forth to serve half of the slogan.
I think there are enough strong members on here that we can still help each other out when needed.
Just my two cents worth.

After your explanation, I see where you're coming from and hope you get a good response in addition to these encouraging replies. As Glade said, I'm also getting soured with Y!A and may not last through the month before I blow it off for good.

YA is not a closed sectarian propaganda booth. I can't believe that the LDS doesn't have its own official site for indoctrinating its membership.

ooh.. good plan. good plan.
ya sometimes I want to ask questions on here, but then I think no, cuz I'll get 10x more trash talk on the Mormons than answers.
count me in!
and I think Glade and hopscotch should most definitely be welcome!

Here is a place that is moderated by some LDS apologists.
http://www.mormonapologetics.org/
There is a place for debate
and other places where there is no debate...
You can introduce yourself etc.
