Is a degree from University of Phoenix online accepted by employers?

I have four more full time semesters to finish my degree in communications and I am having a hard time finding a decent paying job that will work around my schedule. I know that completing a degree online would help best with my current schedule but other than convenience, is the degree worth it? Is it accepted by employers and respected as a bachelor's degree just like from any other school or is it taboo? I want to earn a four year degree so I can go into pharmaceutical sales, do you think this will be a respectable degree for this?

University of Phoenix has one of the worst reputations of the online schools.

In general, I would take the temporary financial hit of completing your degree if it means getting a better education from an accredited, respected institution....if you look at finances alone, the money you would "save" in the next 4 semesters would be peanuts compared to the lifetime earning potential from a better education. If you're going to spend the time and money, don't get an online degree.

Yes, some (but certainly not all) employers will accept a degree from UoP. You'll be at a disadvantage compared to other job applicants with degrees from "brick and mortar" schools....and pharm sales is already a competitive industry.

Online universities, generally speaking, are accepted the same as other university degrees... at the undergraduate level. It is not a very good idea to try to get an advanced degree online. There are too many important hands-on experiences that you can't get that way, and employers look at this. It also depends a LOT on what kind of degree you're getting. English literature or computers? You might be able to pull that off online. History or engineering or science or medicine- things that involve extensive research in archives or labs or internships- not such a good idea online.

University of Phoenix is that biggest scam out there today and should be illegal for suckering people into getting empty degree. I have friends who grade for them and they are told to just pass people no matter how crappy the work is. Many employers are no longer taking their degrees.
