Human development is anything but natural

A while ago one of NASA's top scientists concluded that the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free within five years, much faster than all previous predictions.
when the north pole is gone , you may have polar bears soon in America ,looking for a home ,
Calculations do not include the accumulative ,speeding up ,factor with time. the increase in water temperature will get faster all the time as well as the melting, when the ice is all gone the deeper cold Ocean currents will be drastically affected, which in turn will affect the warm currents, since all moving bodies of water are connected in series.
This will affect coastal climates ,world wide ,almost instantly. All aquatic flora and fauna will be affected, many dying off and others becoming invasive,
And recently In Chiapas ,and Tabasco in Mexico .more then a million people became homeless overnight with water coming up to their roofs ,because of rains from super evaporation from the forests, this had never happened before. Millions of animals died.
In India 3000 people died because of super storms .
.A few years ago in Europe 3500 people, died during a heat wave ,many of them in France .
Right now the average death toll annually is 150.000 due to Global warming
. these figures are already out of date and are expected to double soon.
In Northern China millions of people are running for their lives because regular dust storms so far have buried 900 villages under the sand and the whole of northern China is turning into a dessert.
The Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year all around the edges ,like a slow burning fire shriveling up their neighbors In the Kalahari huge rivers have dried up and thousand of species are gone due to their habitats disappearing .
The biggest changes are invisible at micro biotic levels species are becoming extinct ,others are multiplying ,
This affects the insect populations that follow ,and changes in that ,affect all that follows in the food chains ,
in the last 300 years half of the planets forests have gone
and in the last 50 years
half of our wet lands ,rain forests and ice fields .and 3000 species of animals .
Global warming is but a component, in a group of destructive forces at work such as ;deforestation, desertification, soil and water contamination ,irresponsible or wasteful utilization of bio resources and air pollution.
which we are responsible for ,
We are now witnessing a mass Extinction of animals and plants of Biblical proportions, equal since the disappearance of the dinosaurs
.
There is a series that you can download easy ,called
bbc,Planet earth by David Attenborough.
About 15 ---700mb videos
this is a photographic team that has been filming Nature stories all over the world ,for a very long time .
In 3 of the episodes called --the future--saving species(this one covers extinction and the importance of species)
the future--living together ,ice worlds ,
they compare films they made before of places and species to what they are filming now in the same places.
Many scientists give commentaries as well .
Whole migrations of animals involving millions have disappeared in only 20 years,
in one place in the tundras ,in just 5 years
CHECK THE CLOCK FOR THE SPEED
http://www.poodwaddle.com/worldclock.swf
If we want to save ourselves as a specie ,we have to address
the problems
We can correct most of the destructive factors
with disciplines ,changes of attitude and habits, alternative energies ,sustainable design etc.
All species are in Danger eventually, and each is important because all of Life on this planet is interrelated even if it is not obvious
Imagine that the Eco system is a wall and each specie is represented by a brick
Every brick taken out weakens the wall ,and eventually it will collapse ,which brick is the most important ???
they are all important and we are one of the bricks

I believe in global warming, because if its caused by cow fart I believe cows have been on Earth since it was created. If it's volcanic eruptions then I'm sure by now Earth would be Venus. Carbon dioxide levels are higher than in 650 000 years and we are seeing even more and more extreme weather events. It's real. Face up to it.

what you guys arent getting is that it is cyclic warming! there is nothing we humans can do about it!
I know what I'm talking about. I want to impact SOMEBODY. You (or most of you) just take what you see on the television commercials. STOP GLOBAL WARMING campaigns, with celebrities blindly endorsing something they know nothing about. None of them have actually picked up a science book and read.
Now, I'm not going to stand with the president and claim the earth isn't heating up. I know it is. We've all seen footage of the ice caps melting, and heard about the potential flood crises. So I guess in a way, yeah, the globe IS warming. But the cold truth about this is that this "global warming" is absolutely natural. NATURAL.
The globe goes through what scientists call Cyclic Warming. Warming through a Cycle, obviously. The Greenhouse Effect isn't what's causing the temperature increase- we aren't doing this to ourselves. Since the conception of the Earth millions of years ago, the globe has undergone dozens of drastic temperature changes. What do you think the Ice Age was? Another change in temperature. We're simply going through another one of these. The highs and lows follow a cycle of roughly 100,000 years apart, and we're simply at the peak of a cycle that started roughly 25,000 years ago. So this really shouldn't be news to any of us, as the temperatures have been rising for thousands of years. But all of a sudden we react when we're only 10 - 20 years away from the absolute apex.
So what to do with this? Sadly, nothing. I'm not saying that this warming won't hurt us, because it really will. Our race has become so accustomed to the climate we currently live in, that to adapt to a new one will take a lot of work. We really don't know what will happen, but honestly we'll just have to wait, because there ISN'T any reversal, and there ISN'T any way to stall it. Sorry. But don't believe everything you hear.

If you really want to know, why don't you do your own research. You have Old Al's Information Highway at your fingertips. USE IT. Do your own research and decide for yourself. Or you can do like these other intellectually lazy people and just watch CNN, or The Discovery Channel. I bet if CNN reported tomorrow that there really was an Easter Bunny, these people would believe it.
"The only reality is media reality."
I think if you dig deep you'll question how only a 60ppm increase in CO2 can change the climate of the earth. The atmosphere is 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, 0.94% Argon, 0.038% Carbon Dioxide, the rest water vapor. The increase in Carbon Dioxide they tell you is warming the planet would equal about 0.0015%.
If your next question is, "Why would they?" The answer is $5 billion dollars in research grants to study something they tell us is already conclussive.

this answer really isn't going to persuede you or dis suede you.. but. I believe the sun's solar activity is the main reason behind golbal warming. I watched a show and it outlined all the things that people were saying but not about why it was happening. increased solar activity increases the temp, and in turn the Co2 immissions go up. if you look at the charts and graphs, Co2 build up is caused by the earth getting warmer. NOT the earth getting warmer from Co2 build up. Now we can look at what we can do... Someone said buying carbon credits.... sounds just like the oil companies... who'll get rich out of that bullS...T? and if we stop making Co2 gasses... by let's say, building more effiecent plants etc.... how will the poor countries that can't afford to build that shiney new plant do???? go into debt to the big nations that will build it for them. more BS. I loved the fact earlier about the termites.. cows also make more gas than all the factories in the world combined.... are we going to stop cows from reproducing? what will half the world eat? It really is a crock when you think about it.... in the late '70's all the scientists were saying we are heading to an ice age because the earth was cooling... now it's warming. will they make up their minds.
I believe the (very) little that we do as humans on this earth will not change the NATURAL cycles the earth goes thru.... but hey, someone is going to get rich off of this notion.... I hopethe U.S. is one of the countries that does....

i'm in a environmental class right now. i used to believe it is real, but learning the effects, i'm not so sure anymore. let me explain. it's gonna sound weird, but think about it, and you'll understand. if global warming is true. than the ice caps will melt like the media is telling us. every year, warm water (warm salt water) travels from the equator the poles, transferring the heat to the caps. therefore making the england warm like it is now. but if the ice caps melt too much, therefore providing too much FRESH water into the ocean. (realize that salt water traps heat better than fresh water), and most of that fresh water will be near the source, which are the caps, and as stated earlier, fresh water doesn't trap heat as well as salt water. and if the caps are melting as the media is telling us. than the heat from the equator won't make it to countries like england. and therefore making places like england COLDER NOT HOTTER. i hope u understand what i'm trying to say. if global warming does exist, england won't flood, but rather have very cold winters and cool summers. and as the cold weather carries on, the ice caps will come back. but this is not to say that wasteing energy, gas especially, is acceptable. always conserve, change them light bulbs to energy conserving ones and don't waste water. i really hope u understood what i'm saying. good luck

Yes, I do believe in global wrming coz now as we see, the extent of summers is growing upto nearly 7 months a year and winters remain for less than 4 mnths in a yr. Moreover I've read at many places that many islands in Indian ocean are getting sbmrged . All this is nthing but an evidence of global wrming.

This global warming hype is nothing but yellow journalism. There is far more evidence and common sense against it and all you get from alarmists is "somebody said so, a consensus and a bunch of light refractory hogwash." If you look at all these touters and alarmists, they still have their private jets, their huge electric bills and their hummers. In fact, these scientists can finally afford hummers with their government grant money. They are the only ones that are going to lose out when this is FINALLY revealed as a hoax.

I thoroughly believe that the Earth's climate has and will change.
I do not believe that man's activities have managed to effect that change.
I do not believe that buying "carbon credits" will change a single thing. .... and neither do the people who sell them. ... but it sure makes you feel like you're doing "something", doesn't it?
I believe - and history, archeology, geology, oceanography, climatology and a whole lot of other -ologies agree - that the Earth will undergo a change in climate in out lifetime. I do not believe that humans can do a darn thing about it other than to be prepared to overcome any adversity with technology.... which is how mankind survived the previous changes in climate.
I believe that the vast majority of those who are strongly supporting the theory than man's activities are changing the climate are doing so for political and not scientific reasons.
The Earth's climate will change. Have no doubt about that. It has done so repeatedly and continuously since the planet first cooled.
Dana1981 has laid out a lot of info on the effect of atmospheric carbon dioxide. He squarely places it to be the fault of man and the cause of a steady trend of global warming. ... hee-hee-hee ... It can ONLY be atmospheric carbon dioxide and it can ONLY cause the Earth to warm ... hee-hee-hee ... Unfortunately the former "man-made global warming" crowd have changed their tune. They are now referring to "man-made climate change" to cover their butts ... it seems that we may NOT be on a warming trend after all. Hee-hee-hee. ... so the "man-made global warming" crowd have to hedge their bets and be prepared to argue that we are getting colder . ... which .. hee-hee-hee .. they have begun arguing. ... Which means that all of Dana's hard work may be ... hee-hee-hee... wait for it...

I love it. This is great.

I don't believe in it. And really I couldnt care less about the environment. Global warming was setup to make western countries become green. While asia rushes ahead with development and takes over the world one badly made poisoness toy at a time.....
- Anonymous1 decade ago
If there is any warming - and that has yet to be proved - it's climate fluctuation and there is nothing humans can do about it. It's always occurred.
Read some of these answers. They are doing a good job in school brainwashing the little kiddies with this Global Warming hype.
