You seem to have forgotten the contributions Barbara Castle made in implementing the Equal Pay Act in the 70s.

And there's Mo Mowlam in the Northern Ireland peace process.

And Clare Short, for her continued opposition to the Iraq war.

There are good and bad female MPs, just as there are good and bad male MPs.

The decline started when Thatcher began to decline and it has continued ever since. Mind you stupid women like Harman, Ball's greedy wife, Tessa whatever are just token idiots without a brain so they certainly match the men in Parliament. Sack the lot - who needs them? We are ruled by Europe now anyway.

Few if any women MPs seem to have made much of an impact in recent parliaments although Claire Short Anne Widdicombe and perhaps Gwyneth Dunwoody do/did seem to have something about them politician wise.Bring back Bessie Braddock !

Wow. Stick with your kind then...the men.

Nonetheless. Thatcher was effective in my opinion.

It is a sexist question. cool though. Nonetheless, since the disparity of men and women is big, can we attribute the decline to men (since men tend to makeup more of parliament) etc.?

well now here is an interesting question and a point to ponder for a time,

i do no wish to be sexist as i am nae one. you have somethinh here. but in the end it wull apply to both sexes since they are both fairly incompetent.

but in yer defense i would have to say on the basis of yer question no they are nae capable going by the recent actions and coverage othe the women im parliament of late

My dear friend I really wonder about your question. She was the strongest PM you ever had in the past. She is the strong headed woman of her kind and was always knowing abut her decision & its result. In her tenure GB had great say in the world polytics.

Explain why you think it started with Thatcher. I agree that New Labour has some real feminist numpties, clearly out of their depth.

Recent high profile women have not been very good, that's for sure, but then neither have the men if we're honest.
